Default Lack of CHA chatter

Have I just missed it or is there not much CHA chatter? Last year there were so many "must haves" after the show, and this year it seems that there is no information. Were people just not that crazy about the new products or am I missing it?

OMG it was amazing! This was the first year in many that I am dying to buy some of the products.

Here were my faves from the show, in no particular order:
  • Heidi Swapp Foil Mists
  • Little B Figurines/magnetic scenes
  • Carabelle Stamps - large stamps for mixed media/art journaling
  • Two Lips snarky stamps
  • Mini MISTI
  • Hero Arts fun paper texturing dies - their whole new release
  • Lawn Fawn's release
  • Pebeo fine art mediums/glazes
  • Clarity Stamps Stencil Brushes
  • The Crayola Cray-Pen was fun
  • Several cool knitting/crocheting looms
  • Some beautiful Parchment Craft embossing folders from I think Clarity Stamp
  • Ranger's crazing medium - finer than crackle
  • A million other things I can't remember

I wonder why Barbara gray (clarity stamps) doesn't post YouTube tutorials anymore? I miss her YouTube Tuesdays. I did see her parchment groove tool tutorial, which was cool.

Scrapbook.com has a great playlist of videos on Youtube. Craft Test Dummies and Scrap Time Videos also have some good ones. And I have a post on my blog that goes live on Saturday about my picks from CHA! But I agree that overall the chatter seems to be less.

Do you mean these brushes Lydia?

Clarity Stencil Brushes Set Of 4 - Claritystamp - Stencils for Card Making & Crafts by Barbara Gray

I am DYING for them! Have been for like 2 years now...I dont know anyone who carries it here in the states though and between exchange rate and shipping..it's not cheap from the UK if you want more that one set (like me) She makes blending distress ink so simple looking with them! They never seem to have sales unless you are a paid club member. :(

It's great you got to meet her! She seems like a cool person.

I'll have to go check out the rest of your list too!

I can tell you I saw Anna Griffin on HSN yesterday with her version of the spellbinder 15 buck tool in one to clear detail dies..she has added a bunch of additional tips, a plastic case and wanted 40 for it. Pass. I have the tool. The rest of those functions I already have anyway. I would assume she was at CHA too.

I have been tied up with house projects. I have not had a chance to look at the vids yet. I need to block an hour a day out for myself!

I agree didn't seem to be as many exciting moments, and I have watched a lot of the footage by big bloggers like Scrap Time and Craft Test Dummies. Maybe it was what they chose to focus on, but I didn't see many must-have's for me. I do want everything that Tim Holtz, Dina Wakley and Ranger presented, but that's a given

I've found there was a lot more chatter on the various company blogs and their FB pages. Here on SCS, not so much. Perhaps it's because this site is heavily used by Stampin Up demos and their loyal customers?

They are AMAZING - can't wait to get them! The samples were so gorgeous.

Mary Rose I think it's more that they killed off the consumer shows a few years ago - so the public can't go anymore.

Back when there were one or two days open to consumers, Splitcoast had a booth and people could come and shop and the shows were mobbed. Now that it's only retailers who can attend, the audience is limited to stores and the designers for the manufacturers who have booths there. So there's a much tinier exposure in general to the products at the show.

I can't speak for anyone else, but I personally don't pay that much attention to CHA because I have so much already, don't pay much attention to trends, usually wait for someone I love and trust to test-drive everything before I think I need it, etc. I don't think vendor loyalty plays much of a role, to be honest - maybe "back in the day", but there's so much crossover now that I think it's much less of a factor...

Thanks so much for the "shout out" for Two-Lips Stamps. This is Therese Hennessy, the owner, and we laugh every day! Not a bad job ... check them all out!

Most of us have a stash that is pretty extensive so its easier not to look.

I have a few of the two lips stampsand they are cute and sassy!

Dying to find out what foil mists are.

😀

Two Lips stamps -- never heard of them. Checked out their site and now I'm pretty sure I need some of them. I've been enabled. AGAIN!

I have to admit that this year I will be spending a lot of money on Tims new stuff! Although I love his stuff, often I don't get really excited over a lot, as, and please don't take this the wrong way, ladies, it's often too American for my taste. I know Tim is American, and that you are always going to be the biggest market, but things like Sand Dollars/ Funfair stuff/ etc just would not really appeal to the people I would make cards for. I also didn't really 'get' the blueprints, sorry.
However, I did fall in love with last years Crazy Birds, so the smaller ones and accessories will be going in my basket. As will the marker tin- 80 something colours it holds, so clearly more colours to come at some point- I will also be trying out the sampler sizes of mediums, as trying my hand at art journalling is also on my to-do list. I may well try the neutrals shades of crayons too. The cats stamps, and the Evolution set will also be coming home. I like the look of a few of his new stencils,I like the 3 pack sets idea, and there are some Sizzix dies I have to have. .
Not something I'll be getting, I bought a BS Pro a few years ago, and thats going to take me a long time to wear out, lol, but The Vagabond 2 looks good for anyone wanting a die cutting machine. Apparently now it will be impossible to feed a sandwich thats too thick. I shall be trying out Dyans new journalling pens too.

I wanted to be thrilled by the new releases. Every few days I've done a "CHA 2016" search on YouTube looking for one or two must-have items. I saw a few interesting things.

I like several of Tim Holtz new stencils and his Vintage Auto stamps (though I wish they were not all facing the same direction). I think some of the Altnew stamp sets are nice. And I can see how Ken Olivers' giant craft mat would be handy. Some nice stuff, some "blah" stuff, but nothing that made my heart pound in excitement or screamed, "Buy Me!"

Shaz, I'm with you on the blueprints stamps. Unless I was making a card for a design engineer, I can't image ever using one of those stamps. For the most part I do love Tim's taste in Vintage items, but find it amusing that Ranger makes so much money by reproducing Tim's antique store finds.

Isn't she lovely, she is so giving of her time and knowledge! I met her at a show in the UK and she was making a scene and at the end she handed it to me to keep, that was probably 10 years ago, I still have it.

Got a chance to use it at the show and you will love it.

It's a dreamy minty green with a cute logo.

Okay, I thought with ALL THE STUFF I already have, what more from CHA could I possibly need or want??? Well, I ran across a couple of product reviews and videos on Prima's Watercolor Confections, and.....well I'm a real "want to be watercolorist" who loves to watercolor, and couldn't resist their new pan watercolors! They also have a coloring book, made with watercolor paper (large enough to frame, doubt that I will), but should be fun to play with! Naturally I got sucked right in for more paints!!!! HELP ME!!!!!!!!!!!!!
