Default "Kitchen" theme Bridal Shower invite!! HELP!

Ladies-

My old roommate is getting married! She wants a kitchen theme bridal shower. I need ideas for the invitation. I thought about buying the "mix and mingle" set for this project (I RARELY buy a stamp set with only one project in mind, BUT, this is for JENNY afterall. One of my *favorite* people in this whole wide world.

Any suggestions?

That would be cute....the mix and mingle set. I've also seen little metal kitchen tools at our scrapbooking store...a rolling pin, spatula, muffin pan., etc They are too cute. I used them on a project once. Wonder if you could do something with tin foil, wax paper or saran wrap on the invite since they are kitchen items. Post what you end up with. I'd be interested in seeing it!!

You could also use the "Voila" set with the chef. That might be cute. There are lots of cute kitchen/food themed scrapbook papers these days. Check out your local scrap store!

As far as phrases... I am drawing a blank! Sorry!

How about "Mixing up some fun" or "Jenny & _____ are a perfect 'blend'". I know there has to be one to replace wish with whisk, but it's too late for me to get it right now.

Great ideas! Do you have any silver metallic CS? You could make a faux cookie sheet!

Default Red and White checks

I like the look of Red & White checks for a kitchen theme. Reminds me of an old fashioned tablecloth. You could find checkered paper at a local store.
Or.... you could make a checkered stamp out of a rubber eraser. All you need is one of the yellowish colored "art gum erasers" and a sharp knife. Here's a card I made with mine.... Invitation - New
And here is one I made when I was just beginning to stamp (before I found Splitcoast)... Invitation - Old eeeeew!

The Voila' Set would be great as well as Mix and Mingle. Or how about the Espressoly yours?

Check the gallery for some great samles of both sets.

Usually the Dollar Stores have the index cards on sale this time of year that can be used a recipe books, as they are punched and wired at the top. Or you could use regular index cards with a coil binding. These would make great favors!

Like you, I don't like to buy stamp sets for a single use, but you can always swap it here on SCS afterward. And don't forget..the guests will be so impressed, you could get yourself a new customer or two!!!

I have the voila and the mix and mingle and love them both. I'd say invest - it's a good excuse to buy a new stamp set!

How about the coffee cup stamp used across the front of a pocket card with a saying added saying look what's brewing or we're brewing up and inside the pocket add the bridal shower information. You could do them in their wedding colors or the colors of th bride's kitchen. Stamp several index cards with a stamp that says from the kitchen of and tie with ribbon and add a small cookie cutter as a favor for everyone. Everyone could bring a favorite recipe to the shower. I had a shower once and for a game we had everyone tell about a bad cooking experience in the kitchen and the bride choose the winner. This game brought lots of laughter.

If you base your cards from the 12x12 paper, you can do invites with an attached recipe card for the guests to fill in and give to the bride. Cut the 12x12 at 5.5, then score card from the short side at 4.25, and use the new perforator tool at 8.5 to create the tear off recipe card.

I like the Voila set for this...but mix and mingle would work. How about asking invitees to share a favorite family recipe? I think current sells miniature kitchen tools (xmas ornaments) that might be fun party favors. You could use cupcake papers to hold little treats or as some kind of project. Also get a plain white apron and have guests write on it with sharpies?

For a recent shower we asked everyone to bring a special family recipe and the spice to go with it. We sent cards made from the recipe set (I think it's retired), but you could decorate recipe cards with the wine and cheese stamp from Voila and use the chef and the food for the front of the card to tie it all together.
I know you didn't ask, but I also got heart shaped measuring spoon favors for only $2.15 on the net. They were a big hit. And Jennie is worth it!! HTH
