That's why I put "workshop" in quotes...it can be a workshop, a single customer order or a demonstrator order (anything but a supply order) over $150!

We already know that from August 11 - October 11, 2008 you can choose a free set from the sampler or the Fall/Winter 2008 catty free on top of the starter kit items.

This is in the Q & A section of the Fall-Winter Sampler Promotions on the demo site.

>

which makes me think they're going to offer an "abbreviated" starter kit like they did a year or two ago. I haven't seen anything else, though, about that.

Oh Sharon, just the thought of them offering an "abbreviated" starter kit sends chills down my spine. I only want to join for the discount. I don't plan on having any workshops or anything. I have been trying to justify to myself for months on spending $199.00 for a starter kit. If they do this I'll be one happy SU Demo for sure.

what was the abbreviated kit in the past? did it come without the business supplies? I'm only joining for the discount as well and don't need those.

Last time I believe it was the business supplies, any stamp set $28.95 or less, one pack of assorted cardstock, one pack of WW cardstock, and a classic ink pad.

Oh that would be cool. I would go for an abbreviated starter kit. That would change my decision about when to sign up.

Yup, I was planning to place a 300.00 order in my 45 days time period, so a smaller starter kit would be the thing that would get me signed up now instead of October.

and if you time it right, that first big order in the first 45 days could be in October (so don't sign up until about Aug 20-25th)... and you could take advantage of this special:

Oct 1-Nov 30- Host a $350 WS earn a free set from the sampler catalog

I love it when the Demos let us know when to sign up so we can get the most for our money. Times are tough and every penny counts. Thanks for all the help.

My problem is I don't know if I have enough patience to wait to place a big order until Oct. Last night I started making a list of all the stuff I want to get with the 30% off and that was just in cardstock and punches that are in the "old catalog" because I haven't seen the new one yet and I am already in trouble. lol

I have the will power to wait, lol. I would of course place a small order but then would place the big order in October. I am planning to sign up at the end of August if I sign up in August. It would be the last week, so hopefully they will announce something soon as far as a small kit.

That is a good idea. I could do a smaller order first, get the new in color stuff and get my "fix" while I patiently (yeah, right, who am I kidding?) wait for October to come around. lol

Not sure if this has been posted other than on the demo side, but there will be a promotion for a $99 starter kit. Actually there are three different $99 options for a recruit to use:
A Stamping focused kit
A Scrapbooking focused kit
or a Home Decor focused kit.
Or, if you choose the regular $199 kit, you can choose an additional stamp set of your choice (any price) along with everything that comes in the kit. Both promotions ($99 kit or $199 kit w/ extra stamp set) go from August 11 - October 11.

Will there be shipping charges on the 99.00 kit?

There are no shipping charges on the kit, just sales tax (your local rate).

Wait! So the special to become a demo between that period is $99? That's a better deal than the one they had a while ago!

Right, but it's a smaller kit and you can't choose the extra free set. Either way it's a great deal!
