Default Just have to share this....

My sister and I just came back from the Ohio State Fair. She (Teri) and I along with my brother (Jay) entered many categories including bread, decorated cakes, cookies, candy, jewelry, wood turned items and scrapbook pages. We all did very well and I am so proud of them!!! All winning categories receive ribbons and some cash. 1st place gets a blue ribbon, 2nd place red ribbon and 3rd place white ribbon. Best of show (which is given to a 1st place ribbon winner) gets a large lavender rosette ribbon.

Here's our list of winning categories :

Jay
Wood Turned Candlestick- 3rd place (IT IS ABSOLUTELY GORGEOUS AND IMHO SHOULD HAVE WON 1ST PLACE AND BEST OF SHOW)

Teri
Zucchini Quick Bread- 1st place
Decorated Cake- 2nd place
French Bread- 3rd place
Baby Scrapbook Page- 2nd place
Vacation Scrapbook Page - 1st place

Me
Candy made from molds- 1st place -cute little raspberry flavored choc/vanilla shells-they look like Stipple Shells!!!
Decorated Cookies-2nd place Look like Love w/o End flower!!!!
English Toffeee- 3rd place
Jewelry-Stamped Domino Pin- 3rd place Black Background/ gold ART definition with Cherub embellishment (in my gallery)
Birthday Scrapbook Page- 3rd place (Rene's 1sy birthday in my Gallery)

and last but certainly not least
Family Special Event (Niece Rene's Grad page in my gallery) drum roll please.....

1st place and BEST OF SHOW!!!!!!!

This is 2 years in a row for me. I could just burst with joy and had to share this.

kiki

Isn't that fantastic?!!

A few years back I won several blue ribbons with my baking. It was so exciting! Next year I have to enter some cards.

Congrats!! What an accomplishment! Best of Show!!

Thank-you all for the kind words. Everybody loves recognition for a job well done and this place and the state fair are the best way for me to accomplish that since I seem to be stuck in a dead end job. Yeah I get some recognition at my job but I am really tired of trying to create new 5 ingredient recipes for smoked sausage. Plus even though I manage the test kitchen they won't give me a Manager title. What the heck is a product performance technologist anyway??????? Its not that I am hung up on the job title....I'm viewed and introduced to new employees as the cook. Not that that is a so awful but I do more than that. When I needed a lap top to complete product audits, the IT guy said what does a cook need a laptop for. It sooo hurt my feelings (I know get a tougher skin). I never went to culinary school but did cook professionally for nearly 20 years, but I can't call myself a chef per se. A chef certificate from the local community college will not help when my company only wants grads from the Culinary Institute of America (CIA) or Johnson & Wales.

All that may change tomorrow though....I am supposed to find out if I got a new position (more money Yeahhh but I'd take it if it was the same pay or even a little bit less because of the new skill set it offers, i.e transferrable to other companies should I ever decide to leave but I doubt I would.....)

Gosh I did go onnnnnnnnnn.....Thanks again for the kind words and letting me vent!!!!
