No pets here either, I've never had a pet, not even a goldfish as a kid!

That's an easy fix. Two bad you don't live closer... we have kittens.

No need to be sad, Thing1! I briefly hankered after a pet as a child (I think all kids do) but as an adult I think it would be a restriction to have one!

We didn't plan to have cats. We seem to be the home for unwed cat mothers.

As a non meat-eater I'd feel kind of weird buying it to feed an animal!

Chickens may be a better fit then. Most of mine are like silly flying dogs.

And I don't eat my chickens or ducks... just the eggs. They are pampered pets around here.

Most of mine are silkies now. That's all I've gotten in the last couple years. Such a funny breed.

Foxes and stoats round here put me off - I'd either have to fence them in very securely or be prepared to deal with the icky consequences from time to time.

Mine are all penned here because we have tons of hawks. My chickens are all bantams (mini chickens) except a couple. They have plenty of room to roam in the pens though.

Not sure we have birds of prey round here that would take anything as big as a chicken, even bantam size. Your hawks must be quite impressive.

I love to see foxes and the cubs are definitely cute but the consequences if they get in a hen house are very far from cute, believe me!

Yep! Mine are in a very secure coop at night. I built the main coop inside of my (I have my own) garage. They took over my pottery space.
