Default ISO Ideas For Elmo faces on Cupcakes

We are celebrating our grandson's first BD this month and my daughter would like to make some cupcakes with Elmo on them. I was thinking of doing something with punches to make Elmo's face and somehow stick them in each cupcake. Has anyone seen this anywhere or have any ideas what we could do? Thanks, Carol

there is lots of stuff in the gallery for elmo...

hope you find something that will work for you!

maybe you could just make them with punches and add them to spikes or straws or something like that.

here is a link to the results from 'elmo' in the search in the gallery

I'd have said the same as Momi's Mama - just use a toothpick to make them into toppers that spike into your cupcake. He looks quite easy to make with a scalloped circle punch and a couple of smaller circle punches for eyes with a half circle for his mouth. Then just tape the toothpick to the back and glue a matching scalloped circle over to neaten it up and make it more stable by sandwiching the toothpick.

Happy Birthday to your grandson, hope it's a fun party!

Hmm, just a though on toothpicks and little ones - make sure there are enough adults around to supervise the cakes so you don't get any nasties with toothpicks being poked where they'd cause pain! If you can get straws to go into the cake (maybe if there's enough frosting to support them?) I guess they'd be safer in that regard. Or maybe flat popsicle type sticks would be good? I think you'd still get those to push down into the cake itself so they'd be stable but there's less potential for damage since they're not pointed!

Me again! I just had a completely different (and - forgive me - non papercraft) idea. How about making edible Elmos that could lay directly on top of the cake? You could use a small fluted circle cookie cutter to cut out a red fondant circle for his face and then add small blobs of white frosting for the eyes with maybe a chocolate chip in the centre of each for the pupils?

You could use buttercream icing tinted to the Elmo colors (Wilton has those colors and you can find at Micheal's). Than use tips in right color, to make Elmo's face on each cupcake. Shouldn't be too hard to do. I make a sheet cake last year with Sesame Street faces on it. Picture is on our other computer, will try and thumbnail a picture later (after virus scan is done) so you can see kind of what I'm talking about.

Here is a picture of the Sesame Street cake I made last year. Hope this gives you a better idea of how you can decorate your cupcakes.

Just swirl some red frosting on top and pipe on the features of Elmo.
