Default If you give a girl a stamp...

I wrote a little story about stamping and SCS that I posted to my blog today. It seems only appropriate to share it will all of you since I bet you can appreciate (aka relate) the story. It is inspired by the children's book, "If You Give a Mouse a Cookie".
Hope you enjoy!!

If You Give a Girl a Stamp
By Tracy Harp
If you give a girl a stamp she鼠l want to make a cardshe値l need an ink pad to go with it. She will spend hours pouring over colors trying to decide just the right one to buy. In the end she値l decide she just can稚 choose so she値l buy them all.
Then she値l remember she値l need card stock to match the ink so she値l quickly add four packs of assorted paper to her list, oh and white, vanilla, black and kraft!
Reading about certainly celery, purely pomegranate, pale plum and pumpkin pie will make her hungry so she値l go to the kitchen for a snack. While munching on cookies she値l realize she needs ideas of what to do with the stamp. She値l go to her computer and google rubber stamping.
She値l find a site called Splitcoaststampers. Wow!! So many techniques and ideas and a gallery that never ends. She値l spend hours gazing at beautiful cards and projects. Her eyes will become dry from staring at the computer screen. She値l go to the bathroom for some drops.
On the way, she値l pass her family sitting at the kitchen table waiting for dinner. She値l quickly heat up some leftovers and try to pretend she hadn稚 forgotten. While talking about the days events, her son will bring out the school pictures he had gotten that day.
That will remind her she wanted a digital camera to take pictures of her cards so she can start her own SCS gallery. She値l convince hubby of all the reasons the 吐amily needs a new camera. He will finally agree and she値l head to the store to buy one.
On her way home she値l pass by Joanns and remember she needs an Ott-Lite to go with the camera she just bought. While shopping for a light she値l see aisles of paper, punches, embellishments and ribbon. She値l pick out a cart full of items but realize they don稚 carry THE punch she saw used on a card she saved to her favorites. She値l return home and go back to Splitcoaststampers to find out where to get THE punch.
Her search will lead her to someone痴 blog where she値l see a Starbucks bottle made into a cute candy container. That will remind her she has some bottles in the recycling bin so she値l go to the garage to rescue them from the trash.
While in the garage she値l see her son痴 bike which will remind her she needs to buy a new helmet for his birthday. Thinking about birthdays will remind her she wanted to bake some cupcakes for him to take to school.
As she walks to the kitchen she値l pass by the table and see the stamp. The stamp will remind her that she wanted to make a card and she値l probably want some

I love the book if you give a mouse a cookie and if you give a pig a pancake - isn't there one about a moose? oh yeah if you give a moose a muffin - and this is just delightful!

There's a movie one, too. I have all the stuffed animals to these books when they were on sale at Kohl's a couple of years ago.

Here's my "If You Give a Moose a Muffin" inspired card.

That is so great Jen!!! Love it!
My boys had all those books and we read them over and over and over. They are older now and we haven't read them in awhile but the idea was so strong in my head it wouldn't let go until I put it to paper. I can sleep now, LOL!

Maybe I am just too stinkin old, but I have never heard the story "If you give a mouse a cookie". I have to say, I love your story. That could be me. I can look at something someone is wearing and know that it looks like a stamp set. You need to get this published. TFS!!

I SOOOO enjoyed this rendition. I created my own story the same way last February (2007) and shared it on my blog but it wasn't NEARLY this creative. I too am a Numeroff fan. We have ALL the books.
Thanks for making me smile.

OMG!!! That is way too cool! You definitely need to get this published. I would buy one FOR SURE!!! I just bought 23 copies of If You Give A Moose A Muffin from Scholastic for my son's kindergarten class as a Christmas gift. They were only 95 cents each (for paperback). I thought it would be a nice gift. Great story! I'm sure everyone can relate.
