If you could pick 1 alphabet set from any company what would it be?
I don't have any alphabet sets and I really need at least one. I would like it to be a substantial size that I could use in scrapbooking and on the front of cards and ~easy~ to use.
I would love ideas!

I would pick Classic Alphabet from Stampin' Up. To me, it's the perfect set! It's a good size, and I can dress it up by using the capital letters, or dress it down by using the lower case letters. I use it all the time for both cards and scrapbooking. (Having said that, however, I hafta say - I LOVE SU's Collage Alphabet, too!)

I would definitely choose Close to my Heart's new bigger-sized alphabet called RUSTIC... It's 2" letters are perfect for monograms, page titles, etc. And best of all: it's clear!

I would wait for the new catty from CTMH to come out. They have one that is very similar to the headline alpha in Stampin up. With CTMH sets you can put them on your acrylic block to spell out the word without having to worry about the letters not lining up.
personally my favorite all time alpha is from CTMH called Precious alphabet.

I would pick TAC's Alpha-Tiles. It is just adorable. It is my only current alphabet, it's small enough for cards and large enough for scrapbooks- but it is distinctive, so you couldn't use it on everything.
My favorite SU alphas are classic for cards and headline for scrapbooks.

Just reading this thread and checked out Karen Foster's snap stamps. Sounds good but does she sell retail? Didn't see any prices but perhaps not looking in the right place. Also, what size would work best for cards and scrapbooking? I notice she has mini, small, medium, large.
As for the original question...sorry, I can't help. I'm still getting used to my SU! alpha stamps. Even though I have the Stamp-a-ma-jig, I'm still having trouble with alignment. Any suggestions, tutorials? I asked my SU! demo and she wasn't sure how to use it!

I ordered mine from joanns.com. They usually go on sale a couple times a month. I *heart* them!

Another vote for Headline Alpha from SU! is my very favorite! I agree with Britta, it allows for many techniques and just looks great! Plus I love how Wonderful Words and the other script sentiments work stamped over Headline.

It's a toss up between Letterpress or Headline but I think Letterpress wins. It is a classic font that looks good on scrapbook pages and cards!

I have been using the CTMH SOTM The Works a lot lately. I like it because it has both upper and lowercase letters plus numbers. I also like the rustic alpha set too because they are big letters.

I didn't read all the replys so if this alpha set is mentioned then count my suggestion as a second vote! I love my TAC all Occassion UPPERS and lowers. It is a little pricey at $39.99 for each, but it is Jubilee so you can use you half off items and get AWESOME alpha UPs and lows for $39.99 OR if you buy both you have near an instant party with Jubilee benefits! ANYWAY, here is why I like it so much...I use it on everything. It is a clean and classic font that will never go out of style. It is a solid stamp image so it is great for quick scrapbook titles. It is fun and playful with dye ink. If you emboss it with a metallic powder (like I am doing now on a SB page) it is more ellegant. I like to use it with paint. If you sponge the paint on with rough coverage it can be very shabby chic. If you kiss it with a backgound then it is patterned. It is great for 12 x 12 scrapbook pages, I find some small or medium alphas get lost on big pages. However, that being said I also scrap 8x8 and it doesn't overwhelm a smaller page because it is a sort of narrow font. I love it for monogram cards. I use it all the time for T (thanks) F (friend) H (hi or hello) and L (love) cards by stamping the capital letter in colored dye ink then I stamp the full word in black or brown over or beside the alpha.
I just love the set. It is one of the best investments I have made! I hope that helps!
Inky Hugs

I'm crazy about the clear alpha sets from KI Memories, namely the Modern Alpha, Bubbletter, Disco Dots, Headline upper and lower, Newsprint, and Scripty, and Curly too. They are ~$28 per set. While I don't have any yet, I am on the shopping lookout for these when they come available; Modern is available right now, but the other ones just came out this month and haven't hit the store shelves that I've seenyet.

I have about 30 alpha sets and my current go to set is SU's Typeset alpha. Love it. I scrap as much if not more than make cards and the font size is great. I also love SU's Headline & Letterpress but find the Typeset size more suited to cards. HTH>
