Default If Just Jeans Retires.....

....and is "replaced" with the Canvas BG stamp, do you think Pocket Fun will too. I know it's only January, but I'm really starting to double think "older" sets through before buying them.

Hi, I'm not a demo, but I was wondering the same thing. I just rec'd. canvas and don't own JJ. Are these (2) BG stamps so similiar the average stamper doesn't need both? Also a couple days ago I noticed people mentioning their fav BG stamps, no one said Groovy lines. I have this on my wish list and thought it would be pretty versatile. Any thoughts?

There is a line of the scrapbooks with the Groovy Lines pattern on the cover so maybe there's hope for that one. I had GL on my list as my next BG stamp but somehow it got "bumped" by Canvas and, I think, Stipple Plaid. I really need to use my BG stamps more.

Woo Hoo ~ multiple posts!!

I like stipple plaid too. I really like it but haven't used it at all. How bad am I? I need to get my creative butt in gear before I start packing to move.

Default Plaid makers

I only have French Script now but I'm planning on getting Canvas soon. I wanted the Stipple Plaid. However I saw a really great OSW done with the plaid maker stencils and thought that it may be more versatile Any input would be appreciated. I only have French Script.

I love just jeans also. With 3 little boys at home, I can do all sorts of things with it. I use it with Pocket Fun, but also to make "denim" background paper for scrapbook pages. I use Pocket Fun ALOT, so I hope it doesn't go anywhere for a while.

Just rec'd. Canvas and I'm sure I'll like it. Mostly my BG stamps are retired Script (Irish Blessing), Ticking, Fern Lace. However, am wanting to purchase Just Jeans but I'm afraid it's so close to Canvas. I also would like Frecnh Script again, too close to Script? And the groovy lines looks interesting. I'm covinced if I have a nice assortment of BG stamps I will
get more use of all my stamps and ideas may come easier.

Anyone have JJ and canvas or Script and French Script that could offer their opinion, please. Thanks, Janice

I love love love background stamps

Janice--get them all!!!!!! (and I actually sincerely mean that!)

I have canvas, just jeans & french script

I just got canvas this week and love it already!! What is so nice about having it AND just jeans is that they both give nice texture but having the variety is so so nice! I was stamping today and used both--just for something different!

French script is gorgeous! I adore it and would recommend you getting it as well. I actually like it better than script (which I don't own but have gotten a couple of raks made with it. I think french script is a better background. I like that the print is smaller and less readable. Whenever I see a card with script I focus more on what it says than the whole card. Does that make sense? Good luck deciding

I have three boys as well, that's why I bought Pocket fun, and it is a "fun" set. I have only seen samples online and in the catalog of the Just jeans stamp. Is it pretty easy to get a denim look?

I have Just Jeans which I like alot and I just ordered and received Canvas. Like that one alot. I do think there is enough difference between
the two that made me NEED the Canvas BG...especially after seeing so
many awesome cards in the galleries using it. I don't use any of my BG's
as much as I should but I'm making an concerted effort to change that. I
also have French Script & Simple Stripes. Probably will get the Plaid one
also.

Thanks so much Amy, knowing what others use frequently helps us begin to prioritize the next order. It's so easy to think Oh, I'll just get them all, then you begin to think $.

I see your posts a lot, you really assist a great deal of people and seem
to enjoy stamping and chatting. Me too!!!

Thanks again, Janice

IMHO Just Jeans and Canvas are similar but I use them differently. JJ makes a wonderful denim texture and to me, Canvas looks more like a window screen. Both are wonderful but I'd never consider Canvas as a substitute for denim. I would be lost if I couldn't demo JJ and Pockets of Fun anymore. My customers love these stamps.

I used Pocket Fun the other night...I did not have JJ and stamped it on white cardstock. I tried to lay the pocket right on top on the ballet blue ink pad and pressed it in. The result looks just like denim IMO. I was soooo happy.

I like both of them-I think Canvas is is great in that it adds more emphasis, while JJ is great in that it adds depth very subtley

I have both JJ & Canvas and feel there is definitely a difference between them. The Canvas can really help create a vintage or even "grungy" look (for lack of a better word...think boys and dirt) while the jeans background is really like jeans. They are both very versatile.

Do some stamps only last one catalog?? Wasn't JJ just introduced last July? I've only been a demo since July, so I'm not sure exactly *how* that works...but most sets discontinued last year were there for more than a year, I thought...

Just Jeans was introduced in the 2003-2004 catalog or maybe a mini before that. It definitely wasn't in the 2002-2003 catalog (I looked).

Sadly French Script and Stipple Plaid were in the 2002-2003 catalog so I wonder if they'll stay or go. I wasn't this tense about possible retirees this time last year. Having been through it once has changed my perspective.

Some stamps, sadly, do only last one catalog. Of course, some only last a mini, and never make it to the big book! I hope Just Jeans and Pocket fun stay - I'm holding off on Pocket fun'til July. Maybe by then, there will be so many more fun things I won't need it either way?

Not to threadjack, but QC - love the new avatar.

I haven't seen any comments on Simple Stripes. Love the striped paper but of course can never find the right colors or size suitable for a card. I think it would be so handy. What do you guys think?
Going to a SU party Sun and thinking about getting this, or canvas.

I am new to SU, but I am a background stamp junkie. I have French Script (My Fav), By Definition, Bamboo II, Antique Background, and Antique Cracking. I was planning to get Just Jeans to go with Pocket Fun, but I HAVE TO HAVE Soft Swirls. I guess I better plan to buy JJ sooner rather than later.

I have JJ and Canvas and love both. I think Canvas will be more versatile, but IMO they are 2 that should be classics. Some come and go with trends (bamboo, country check, maps, etc) but these 2 will work for so many things. I don't have Pocket Fun. I use JJ and then use a ruler to "stitch" with a white pen.

I love my simple stripes. It can give a "masculine" feel to a card and it's so hard for me to come up with those!!!
