Default Ideas for Teeny Tiny Stamps Needed

Hello,

Ive just started stamping and wonder what do I do with the teeny tiny stamps that a lot of sets come with? I tend to make larger cards (half fold, 6 x 6 etc.) and those tiny stamps look lost.

Im one of those if I have it, I have to use it people so I hate not using them.

Any ideas appreciated.

Thank you
Linda

Sometimes people randomly stamp the tiny filler stamps across a background to make their own printed paper. and I also think sometimes it depends on the scale of the card. if you do a 3"x3" folded note from drop pieces of 5 1/2" square cards tiny images look super stand alone that way.

another thought is if you do a single image on a larger card to do some kind of interesting frame for it, so it does not look like its just floating in outer space. ( does that make sense?)

So, not all of the cards on this pinterest search fit the "tiny" category, but many do:

Jennifer McGuire demonstrates building a wreath with the smaller and tiny images in the video on this page:

And this is not the example I was looking for, but uses the same technique...create a shape with small stamps:

I used a number of them a while ago, using a card I saw on Pinterest as inspiration. Just stamping onto card, cutting into small squares or rectangles, then mounting.

This last one was done by randomly stamping the small stamps onto a background, then cutting down into squares and rearranging as a mosaic. By the way, in the first pic, the image isn't blurred, it was done by stamping the same image, in two tones of the same colour, slightly offset. To give you a sense of scale, the Square cards are 6", the second pic is A4 folded, and the first is what we call DL (roughly 8 1/2 x 41/4"). I'm never sure if you use the same descriptions always that we do, lol.

TLC528, Joan called it "cluster stamping" and asked us to make a negative mask and then fill the space with small stamps. Challenge is found HERE and you can find the link for the associated gallery in the first post.

Making frames and wreaths as has been suggested is a good use.
You can also create any sort of grid or tile background and use them on the tiles. If you have any sort of kitchen or bathroom theme this works especially well .

I love the look of the negative stamps- would you share how you did that?

Thank you

I was going to mention the wreath builder too! Here's a card I did using tiny stamps from a Reverse Confetti set. (Actually for this card, I didn't use the Wreath Builder template, but used the same concept, rotating the hexagon in the corner of my MISTI.)

Like others, I use them for all over random background stamping. Sometimes I use a few inside the card in a group - often three - to echo the design on the front. Or I do a group toward a corner - or even randomly. So the larger focal stamp or stamps take center stage, with a little echo elsewhere. They also can be used to make a line.

In an extremely simple pet sympathy card, I used a larger sentiment stamp in a neutral color on neutral CS as the focal point, with one small red heart off center toward the bottom above a strip of ribbon. Being the only color, it stood out.

Some really good ideas I hadn’t thought of. On a related note I took all my clear heart and star tiny stamps and made one stamp set out of them. That way when I need a small heart or stars to round out my cards I have a set with nothing but those to choose from. I was spending a lot of time looking for the right small stamp to add to a sentiment, the back of an envelope, etc. These two shapes are the ones I use the most. I also group my tiny star and heart dies out of mixed sets into two storage envelopes.

I've been considering doing something similar to Mary's idea...only I would likely choose all the little bitty stamps. Granted, there would be a LOT of little hearts and stars. But I have some tiny flowers and leaves, too. And some tiny dots and snowflakes.

Lots of potential there!

I have a pinterest board where I collect ideas on how to use tiny stamps. I like to make frames or backgrounds with them. You could look up peg stamps (such as rubber stamp tapestry brand) to find lots of ideas, because all their stamps are tiny.

Hi Linda, did you mean the second picture, with the white images? It was done by stamping in Versamark, and heat embossing white powder, then just ink blending over the top. A quick buff afterwards with some paper towel takes any ink off the white embossing.

I had the same question and then I came across this card one day. Ever since then, I stamp all of the banners that I use
