Default I think this is brilliant, do any other companies do this?

I found the company Kindred Stamps because they have such fun pop culture stamps. I have found fun Harry Potter, Star Wars and Lego stamps on their site. There are no matching dies, HOWEVER, they do sell cut files that can be imported to the cricut, silhouette, or brother scan and cut. The cut files are .99 to 1.99. Way cheaper then a set of metal dies, and so easy to use and import. Are there any other companies that you know of that sell cut files for their dies?

Hey Andy,

I don't know of anyone else selling cut files, it is brilliant.

But I wonder if any of the famous characters are licensed? Don't think it's likely that they are, given there are so many. Licensing is expensive. I would be concerned that there will be cease and desist order in their future.

They have been doing it for some time now so I suspect they do have license permission.
Unlike T-shirts, I doubt there are 1000 people lined up wanting to do rubber stamps

These are SO for the kids-you will be a winner if you make cards for them. If you want to see some great cards with them check the gallery. Clownmom makes a lot of them.

I am sorry, I dont know about cut files.

Claire Brennan used to do cut files for many sets at Waltzingmouse Stamps but of course they closed a while ago now. She’s designing for Gina K these days but I don’t know whether there are cut files for any of the designs there.

I have a bunch of those sets. I don't think they actually use the names of the characters. Like the Harry Potter ones are called Wizard Kids or something like that. They don't use the name of the show or anything so I don't think they are infringing on copyright, but what do I know. The people are cartoony and like the HP character does not have a lightning bolt on his forehead - you would draw that in. I love them because my kids all have favorites that are covered - Supernatural, Walking Dead, and so on. I don't know how to use cut files, so I just have my Scan and Cut do the cutting.

Just putting in my two cents regarding the licensing question. It is my understanding that, because Kindred Stamps does not use the name of the original characters (and stresses all the time that stampers not use the names either), they are not infringing on copyrights. Being a Sci-Fi and fantasy nerd, I love their stamps! I don't use the cut files because I don't have an electronic cutting machine. Besides I find that fussy cutting is somewhat relaxing.

I'm nÚt sure how all the legal things work but in terms of copyrighted images there have been a lot of lawsuits lately. Dies by Dave had to cease making many of his dies he was doing for Stampin' Up stamps and Stampin Up recently filed against Ali Express and a few other dealers selling knock off dies.

Kindred stamps has amazing stamp sets. I'm so excited as a nerdy crafter I found them. In my opinion they fall under fan art they use their own design and they don't use any copy righted names, logos or symbols.
