Default I need your HELP! Pretty please! READ AND REPLY!

Okay, so I have this great idea -- but the execution is the part where I am stuck. I am moving to a new neighborhood in July, and I want to make "dishwasher" signs for my new neighbors. You know what I mean, they are the kind that say dishwasher is, and then on the bottom have a thing from a string that says clean, or dirty. Anyway, I was thinking of making them magnetic on the back, so they stick to the dishwasher, and then, I was trying to decide what I should use -- tiles, dominoes, any other lighter ideas? I am just stuck at this point. I want them to be cool and hand stamped and then I will give them out with my info as a way to introduce my new neighbors to me and Stampin Up! HELP ME WITH THIS IDEA! I know you ladies rock and can think of something.

Hugs,
Amanda

I think if I was getting one, I'd be more likely to use it if it was a tumbled tile.

Durable, will last a long time, more attractive. IMO

What about lightweight wooden peices from Michaels? If you are handy with tools, perhaps you could cut paint stir sticks from Lowes/Home Depot?

BTW, my dishwasher has a plastic fron t and I am unable to use magnets there. Just a thought.

most dishwashers arent metal.. either plastic or stainless.. so a magnet wouldnt hold.. how about those suction cup things that you push in and they stick.. then they have a hook coming out the middle. you could make something that hangs off one of them.

What about using polyshrink and velcro? You could make the sign from polyshink and then use the self-adhesive velcro on the back. The user would have to stick the other side of the velcro to the dishwasher, but if they plan on using it, then that would be okay. Just a thought.

If you can use a magnet, how about the little acrylic magnet frames sized for wallet size pictures? AC Moore has them, for one.

Does anybody actually use those things? I just open the dishwasher and look to see if there's water on the top of the cups; I'd never remember to turn the little sign over. You could just do a refrigerator magnet instead. You know the magnets will stick, you could use any stamps you like, and I've never seen a naked refrigerator outside an appliance store!

How about the adhesive business card magnets that you can buy at Walmart? Then you can just stamp something cute on cardstock and cut it business card size, then stick them to the magnet. Those type of magnet seem to stick the best to my fridge without falling off when bumped or something like the other kinds do.

We use one and it's round and you just spin it to "dirty" or "clean". We love it.
Maybe you could use a CD? Then put the suction cup thingy right through the hole?
Hope this helps.
Have a great day

I love this idea, however, I'm with barbstamps - I just use the water on the cups method myself (if I even remember to run the *&^# thing).

Or a ribbon or string to hang from the door handle?

OKAY -- this idea rocks! Brilliant! I am going to try it out and I will let you know how it goes. DUH me on not remembering the dishwasheris plastic on the front. LOL! Do you all really think that this is a useless idea and that I should go with something else? I just really want a 3D type object that will be seen...

HELP!

This is a cool idea -- maybe I could make some sort of welcome to the neighborhood door hangers . . .

Really great idea...except the new diswashers all have a light that indicates that the dishes are "clean" so if you are going to a newer development...they won't need it. However...everyone could use a coaster or a trivet. They are inexpensive to make and attractive. What a great "gift" to welcome you to their neighborhood!

Congrats on your move! That's exciting! Hope you have a great stamping room

I think this is a great idea, i personally would not use the dishwater thing b/c I would never remember to change, but a coaster or a trivet would be great.

I really like the door handle hanger idea. You could stamp or paint or whatever a really nice Welcome on the front that everyone would use somewhere in their house and put your Stampin Up info on the back.

The dishwasher thing isn't something I would use personally.

That light only stays on until the dishwasher is opened for the first time after the cycle finishes running -- which works fine if you actually unload all the dishes as soon as they're done!

I'm favoring the refrigerator magnet idea using the small acrylic frames. You're guaranteed that they'll see it and think of you several times a day! Single trivets and coasters can get shoved in a corner or drawer and forgotten. If your goal is advertising your presence and your business, then you want something that will get the most visual exposure.

I have seen them at the dollar store - and I think Walmart as well.

I agree about having it in plain view - a coaster would be nice - but eventually would be put in a drawer - fridge magnets are ALWAYS used and are in eyes view Multiple times a day!

Amanda~ I personally like the idea of a fridge magnet
Here is a site that has pictures of the acrylic frames ~ just so you know what they look like.
You can buy them at any discount/drug store They come in many sizes You could 'package' them up cute in a clear cello bag & easter type grass, along with some cookies or choc or something yummy
