Default I need Help, I took my alphabet off of the foam and wood...

and need to adhere it back on!! I thought I would get the same effect if I took apart my pure & simple alphabet and used poster tape and used them on acrylic blocks. But I DONT LIKE THAT! I threw out all the blocks. Just now I crazy glued a letter to the Jenga blocks which are perfect, Stamped perfect, but the crazy glue doesnt stick well, the rubber peals right off. ANy adhesive/glue ideas to get the rubber stamp to stick permantly to the wood block? THANKS!! I think I'll stick to acrylic with acrylic!!

You may have to wait awhile for n experienced stamper to get up. I'm a night hawk and it's only 2 a.m. in Hawaii.

I don't know about gluing rubber or damaging the rubber but since you're already at the stage - years ago, an SU demo told me that Crystal Effects is better than glue for adhering our stamps back on the wood if we ever wanted to remount them. It does seem like an acrylic finish so a thin layer has helped me recut some of my old stamps to remount. But never rubber to wood - doesn't it need to breathe?

Good luck!

Default HI

Thanks for your suggestion on the foam. But I really didnt want to bother with that. All my letter are cut already so then I'd have to cut down all that foam to fit the all the letters. I just really want a glue that will adhere the rubber to the wood. Thanks though!

Crazy glue doesn't work well on "absorbant" surfaces like wood and paper. You may want to try Crystal Effects but almost any adhesive that won't harm the rubber won't last long. Water based adhesives will be softened by stamp cleaner especially stamps that have a small surface area like alphabets. Use a gentle hand when cleaning on your Stampin Scrub.

If you want to use acrylic blocks I have heard people have good results with plain old double stick tape or Aileens Tack it Over and Over. Just replace the DS tape when it no longer sticks. You may need to place your card stock on top of a "cushion" and then stamp to get an even impression. A mouse pad works well.

If you want to include the cushion (the technical name for the foam layer on a rubber stamp) with the rubber and use acrylic blocks then EZ Mount from Sunday International is the way to go. They have a good price on it.

If you want to mount permanently to wood blocks Sunday also sells cushion with permanent adhesive on both sides.

I know you don't want to have to mess with cushion, but you really should use it when you mount rubber on wood. Wood mounts have invisible "dips and wowies" that can prevent getting an even image. That's why woodmount stamps come mounted with cushion -- to even things out.
Since acrylic is perfectly smooth, that cushion isn't needed; that's why people can use "nekkid" rubber.

To go back to wood mounts, you're really gonna want to bite the bullet and get something like the EZ mount. You'll be happyier in the long run.

What didn't you like about using the poster tape with the acrylic block, if I may ask? I've had good luck with poster tape in the past, that's why I'm asking. Or is it just that you don't like the hassle of having to mount each time?

When a few of my stamps came off the wood, I used rubber cement to re-glue. Worked like a charm. But, I also still had the foam on!
