Default I Need Family Tree Help

I have a friend who wants to make a family tree as a Christmas present. She has envisioned using the All in the Family set and having little people in a tree of some sort.

How would I make a tree? I am guessing it would need to be big enough to fill a 12x12 frame. Any ideas? Can cricut cut a tree that size? I don't have one, so I don't know what it is capable of. I am absolutely stumped!

I've seen pre-printed trees in the scrapbook stores. They would be 12 x12. You could start calling the stores around you.

Unfortuantely I don't have any local stores besides Michaels or Hobby Lobby. One local store closed in March and the other this weekend. The economy must really be bad with all the local stores leaving.

I was going to suggest the same. Look online for a scrap page with a preprinted tree.

Default Family Tree Idea

What about googling tree coloring pages? If you could find a winter tree (i.e., no leaves--think of the main tree image in Season of Friendship in the current Holiday Mini), you could cut it out and trace it onto the back of a piece of chocolate chip cardstock. Then, cut the CC tree out and layer it on top of lt blue (or whatever color) 12x12 cardstock. Your friend could stamp her little people around the branches and also fill in with stamped or punched (I think this would look neat, giving it more dimension) leaves. I made a couple of family trees like this for my parents and grandparents about 10+ years ago, only then I got a large die cut tree from a scrapbook store. I wrote the family members' names on punched apples (red for direct kin and green for those who married into the family). I matted a rectangle with the family name at the base of the tree and framed it. I still update them by adding more apples as our family grows.

Hope this helps,
Michelle

I saw on on one of the scrapbook message boards where someone had cut a tree with a die cutting machine and then used the Martha Stewart punch for the leaves. On each leaf was a family members name. This person had framed it is a very nice frame and it was a lovely looking piece of art.

You can probably find a clipart tree on the internet and print it out. For one without leaves you might want to search for winter and/or Halloween. Seems like when you see a haunted house they have a bare looking tree in the foreground or background.

Here is one that may work.

Do a search for "genealogy charts" you should come up with others.
