What do you think of making a card in the shape of a purse, with a magnetic clasp that opens to show the inside of the purse with a pocket for a gift card? I made a sample in plain pink paper. We could make it in a pretty floral or any other design you like.

Do you like the glasses and key chain? We can put them in the purse or on the outside for decoration. We could put lipstick inside or......

OK, I will make the embedded die card with red sleigh.
How about Merry Christmas for saying?

The last card to make is embedded twine.

I think simple would be a round tree ornament.

I can make with stripes, like this STRIPE CARD

Tell me what color you want

If you agree, I will make this card an ornament.
What color ornament would you like?

It is a little confusing because there are 2 embedded challenges today.

1. Embedded twine---making an ornament for this one---what color do you want?
2. Embedded die ---we are making the sleigh for this one

I loved seeing all of your beautiful projects. That was a lot of creativity flying back and forth, but the results are fabulous. Loved the inlaid twine, the triangle ornament, and the cute little cotton ball Nugget snowman! The inlaid sleigh was a lot of work (all those tiny pieces to inlay), but so gorgeous in the end.
Great job you two!

So Linda,
What did you like best about the Falliday projects? There were so many projects and tutorials that I was kind of overwhelmed and didn't do any of them. I haven't participated in any of the Splitcoast challenges, so will have to become more familiar with the way they work. Maybe I'll be up for it next year.
What was your favorite project, and which was the hardest for you to design?

Hi, Linda,

Although there are many artists in my family, I am the only one who does paper crafting art. My sister is a painter. She has some of her work on display at a local gallery. She is also a great gardener. My mother did many different types of art when she was younger. She has "retired" from art work but she also won many prizes for her beautiful work in oil, acrylic, watercolor, lithograph, mixed media and hand made paper. She is also musically gifted and taught piano and organ lessons for many years. She was the church organist for services and choir, and accompanied many singers for weddings, funerals, and various celebrations. She even knows how to play a pipe organ! My grandmother was a skilled seamstress. She worked for a company that sewed custom clothing for very rich women who wanted the latest Paris styles. She could do any kind of "stitch" craft you can think of: knit, crochet, tat (that is an old fashioned way of making lace out of thread), crewel, embroidery, macramé, quilt, applique, as well as sewing from her own drafted patterns and designs. She grew beautiful iris flowers and had every color you could imagine.

At a very young age my mother taught me how to play the piano. I had my first vocal solo at church when I was 7 years old. By 4th grade I was sewing my first dress and in 6th grade I started making all my school clothes, as well as pajamas, shirts and shorts for me and my 2 brothers and 1 sister. In 7th grade I played the piano for the children's Sunday school. In high school I was in musical plays and got paid to sing at weddings. I also sewed (and got paid for) wedding dresses for young women in our church. I even sewed my own swimming suits! Isn't that a funny thing to picture-but they were the cutest suits and I had 4 or 5 different ones to wear to the pool! Stylish! I took after my grandmother in designing my own clothes from the latest styles that I saw in fashion magazines. When I got married at age 21, I sewed my wedding dress and the dresses for my bridesmaids.

I am lucky to have such talented women in my family. Well, I guess that is enough about me. What about you? Are you the artist in your family? Was your mother the one who got you started in stamping or did you get her to join you?

Hugs,
Sonja

Linda, here are some old pictures to let you see the wonderful women in my life.

First one is my grandma giving me the first piano lesson at 4 months old.
Second one is me singing my first solo at church age 7. My mom made the heart pillow for me to hold so I would not be nervous. She also sewed my pretty dress. She played the piano while I sang.
Third one is me singing a song at my 8th grade graduation ceremony. I sewed the dress I am wearing- it was a soft yellow crepe with overlay of lace with daisy pattern. The sleeves were sheer lace. Peter Pan collar and cuffed sleeves were also overlaid with the lace.
The fourth one is me and my mom at a party 2 months before I graduated high school. I sewed both the satin dress and skirt I am wearing and the eyelet gown she is wearing. Her gown was an ivory eyelet over peach fawn. It had a sweetheart neckline and a wide peach grosgrain cummerbund that fastened under a large bow at the back waist of the skirt with long streamers to the floor length hem. My outfit was a pale pink satin blouse with full gathers to the French cuffs. The satin skirt was a burgundy color, slim with slit in the back. I made the silver chain belt that draped in 3 layers from the waistline. I made the cufflinks from crystal buttons that matched the buttons down the front of the blouse.

Thanks for taking me down memory lane.
