Default I Did It! I Sold My Cards At My First Craft Boutique!!!

Remember me? Here is a link to a question I had about selling my cards in a Holiday Craft Boutique:

Does This Sound Fair?? - Long Post by havonfamily at Splitcoaststampers

Well, I did sell some cards at another church who only charged me $10 for a small 3 foot table, that I didn't share with anyone It was 6 hours for each of the 2 night craft boutique, and I did really well the first night! I sold 15 in the first 15 minutes to ONE Lady! Truth be told she bought the best cards, but hey, I sold them and that's what I'm there for, right?! I sold 19, in all, the first night but only 4 the next night

I did decide to sell them for $5 each and although I doubted that decision, I think it was the best price. I had one Lady tell me that it was way too much to charge. It's ok, it's all a first time experience and I enjoyed it

Thank you to all you Ladies who really encouraged and helped me out! I needed your tips and guidance!
I had fun and I will most definitely do this again

Thank you Ladies and I couldn't have done it with all of your support and encouragement

So I'm going to take a day off (really tired and jump right back into having fun and making cards

PS. Is there any good online scraping Black Friday sales? I'd like to re-invest some of the money in some new papers and a stamp or two.

Amanda, that is great...way to go. Thank you for letting us know how you did as I remember reading your first post and I always wonder how the advice given works out for the people that ask. Keep it up.

Congratulations!! I think that is great. It's funny - I think $5.00 is alot to pay for a card yet I know how much goes into making one. Not sure if you can include all the peace and relaxtion and fun that goes into them but when I come up from the basement where my little craft room is and show my husband a card I made I will often say " So - how do you like this $450.00 card?" cause that is what it has cost me for all the supplies etc etc I needed. I guess what I am saying is $5.00 is really cheap and not alot to pay for a card!!!!

I think the venue advertised well and they have been doing it for 8 years and that helps, I think

Wanda6, I know exactly what you mean! At first my husband couldn't care less about card making until I sold a couple to a friend and saw that this could be a small side business to off set the initial "start up" costs - LOL!! So a hundred down and $700 to go - LOL

Sewflake, I know! I was such a mess of worry, and I still am! I'd rather weigh the costs before jumping into something head first - like I usually do. I'm glad I asked for help and I'm also glad I did it. I want to help with adding income into our house since I am a SAHM, I just want to do my part to help.

Thank you again, Amber, for your kind and generous offer to send me some cards!! Many people came and looked at all the craft tables but many didn't buy. That's ok, I'll be hitting the cards hard this year to see what I can do differently. You are too kind and I appreciate that!!

Thank you again, Ladies for your kind encouragements

at $5 you most likely undersold your cards. People don't realize, the materials and time and general cost it takes to create a handmade card. Plus it's not like she can go to any hallmark and pick up one of your creations. Just tell em to go on etsy I see people seeling handmade cards for $6-15 plus they pay for their own shipping.
