I just drilled my first glass blocks, I even bought a extra because I thought I would break at least one! All three came out perfectly!!! I am so excited, obviously. Now I just have to figure out the rest of the project. I am making these for my boyfriends nieces for xmas. Now, I just have to figure out something for our nephews.......

AWESOME!!!! They are really impressive. Maybe I'll give them a try for next year -- so many things I didn't get to this year. Hope to see yours in your gallery soon.
Is there any way to drill these without a drill press and just using a regular drill with a diamone bit? Has anyone tried it? I really want to try these but we don't have a drill press and I don't know anyone who does:(

You can use a drill... it's more difficult is all. Make sure you have a vice grip of some sort so the block doesn't move. My husband drilled one block with a drill and then decided he would buy the drill press. But, we had over 40 blocks to drill.
In case you didn't see how I did my blocks, here's the link:
Hi, Has anyone had trouble drilling these? I was told by my brother the hardware man that these can explode while drilling so wear protective glasses and a coat to protect your body!!!!!

I used a 1/2 in. bit from Lowes. It looked like a spear on the top of the bit ($6). I have a drill press at work so I just slipped out to the shed for a couple of minutes.... I found a almost empty bottle of dawn that I filled with water and just let it drip continuously on the block. It was a pain to rinse out but I thought the soap could help lube the glass. It worked for me
