Aussies where denied an opportunity to buy the new scoring tool since it wasn't included in our new catty. Might get it in the next one maybe. I'd be interested in getting the SU! one, but I'll always keep my Scor-pal. I'd get good use out of both of them.

My Scor-Pal and Scor-Buddy handle all my needs. I will not be getting another scoring tool.

I have the Scor-It, the Scor-Pal, and Martha Stewart's scoring tool. Stampin Up is a day late and a dollar short..... I can't justify buying yet one more scoring tool.

I have no need to buy another scoring board. My Scor-Pal works just fine.

I can't justify that kind of money when I already have the Scor Pal, Scor Buddy and MS boards.

I am sure SU realized most of us have a scoring board. They may have introduced this just for their Demos to buy. Scoring boards are popular and they didn't have one. They don't want their Demos demonstrating other brand products .

I am a demo and I'm not getting it! I'm not one to duplicate items or sell and buy different products that do the same thing. I only hold a workshop every other month, so I don't think anyone will really mind I don't have any scoring techniques at my classes.

My Score-Pal isn't going anywhere! Not even tempted. I do however want to get a Score-Buddy to put in my travel case.

What I want to know is what SU customer would buy it. I have a Martha Stewart score tool that I bought at Michael's with a 50% off coupon. It was only $20 to begin with and SU's is $29.95. I just can't, won't and don't want to spend $30 on something I can find for $10. I'm sure it's a nice tool, but the price is just way too high. That's my opinion.

Bottom line is that SU wants their demos do use things they can sell... so just to make it available for demos to use doesn't seem to follow their usual model. I tend to agree with others who think that they are a step behind and aren't going to do very well with it.

My demo did order it because she had half price dollars to use or something. I'm not really sure.

I'm not quite sure how a person can come to the conclusion that SU isn't doing very well with their score board. It's only been on the market for 12 days :-)

And just because us diehard longtime stampers don't necessarily need yet another scoring tool to choose from there are new people being introduced to the world of stamping all of the time so IMO there is a lot of potential for the SU scoreboard.

Yup, what Shellie said....I never thought I NEEDED a score board before the SU one came out. I didn't do fancy folds (still don't) and didn't really know how to make the paper lollies with them (until I saw how at convention) so I never even thought of getting one. Then I saw ours...and I had to have it:-) I really like the fact that it's re-enforced through the middle and it's got 1/8" measurements...I guess not all do??? I'm happy with it and I think it will be a good seller.

Now, I probably wouldn't have gotten it (at least right away, lol) if I already had a score boards of some sort. There are lots of tools I had before SU and before becoming a demo that I already had. If I have something that works I see no reason to buy something else just because it says SU. I'm sure some will be replacing their worn out non-SU scoreboard with the SU one at some point.

I love my Scor Pal and use it on every card. It gives me a clean crisp fold every time and I'm not interested in spending $$ on another brand.

I wouldn't give up my Scor-Pal or Scor-Buddy for anything.....they are the best!

I doubt that most new to card creating would want to purchase a score tool for $30 unless they have no access to any kind of chain craft store. That wouldn't make sense.

At least for me, my customers are in love with the SU scoring tool. I have already sold several this month.

I have a Score Pal but haven't decided if I'll replace it with the SU one. I'm not particularly happy with the one I have and certainly can't demonstrate with it. Thus far, however, just by seeing it in the Holiday Mini, I have already sold several of the SU scoring boards this month.

I'm going home with the one who took me to the dance and that's Martha! LOL

If I was a demo, quite honestly, I would have personal integrity issues peddling the SU! version of this product for a couple of reasons. IT AINT ALL THAT DIFFERENT! So they added a metal scoring tool. Big woop! I've been doing that for years on my own! They might have got the idea from someone here or even me for that matter. It's not genius and not worth paying through the nose for. Oh . . . it has nifty markers so you don't lose your spot. Is it really THAT hard to read the ruler? A post it will work just as nicely. It's certainly not cheap PLUS the shipping is ridiculous.

So, as a demo talking to a NEW crafter, it'd feel just a tad predatory recommending a $30+ tool (lord only knows how much more it is CDN) when I can send them down to the Michaels store and get one for half the price. Let them spend their savings on other more worthwhile product.

Yes....but maybe I'm cross-eyed (we need a cross eyed smiley btw) :-) I really like the markers as all the little hash marks run together in my eyes....same with all my cutters and stuff too. Could be because I have coke bottles for glasses as well. LOL!

I would not feel bad recommending it to a customer as it's high quality and my customers are all adults who can chose how and where to spend their money, heck someone I don't even know and never met just bought one off my website. I buy SU for the high quality and good customer service should anything be wrong and there are many customers who do the same. I also like the fact I can shop at home and not have to go out and spend time looking for stuff in the store...I have things to do like stamp...I mean clean my house, lol! Different strokes for different folks!

Gee, I guess I'm way out in left field, don't own any score anything. I just use my cutter and a bone folder. Do I really need a score board of any kind?

*sigh* It really has made life a little easier:-) I was doing the same thing as you and I get way better results with my board. It's also opened up a whole new set of projects I can make like the paper lollies. THAT was a pain with my cutter and folder! Not to enable or anything.....

A lot of people bought the score-pal when it first came out and wasn't it originally selling for $40?

Some people don't care about quality and warranties and customer service and sometimes when I purchase something I don't care either. There are a couple of areas where quality and customer service matter more than a low price-point and those are clothes and my crafty supplies. I don't have a lot of clothes because I pay more for them from reputable clothing companies but they will last me years and years on end. Same thing for my stampin and beading supplies....quality over quantity :-)

Anyhow it really is to each their own.
I plan on purchasing the SU score tool relatively soon even though I have the Martha one. I'm gonna keep the MArtha one though and will let my customers decide for themselves whether the SU one is worth the higher price.

Happy Stamping everyone :-)

LOL, Shellie! I'm the same way about clothes and crafting supplies! I have quit buying "cheaper" clothes because they just don't stand the test of time BUT I sort of have a shopping problem so I have LOTS of clothes but by buying slightly more expensive ones they last a lot longer and wear/wash better, lol....oh and shoes, I needz me good shoes! And we all know I have way too many stamping supplies...but there are worse problems, right? My DH is thinking about moving his office to the basement which means I could have the BIG room for my office instead of the smallest room....I'm getting all giddy just thinking about how much MORE stuff I could fit in there...better keep that to myself though or he will NEVER move downstairs, hehe:-)

Oh and food...my mom used to buy generic EVERYTHING...some things are ok but some are NOT. For instance I must have JIF peanut butter! Your post just made me laugh thinking about all the times me and my mom argue about brands:-)

I have a group of ten ladies that meets once a month. I demo'ed the Simply scored tool last Saturday and the question I asked was how many have used a score board before. Not one had...and most of these ladies have been stamping for years! I sold six Simply Scored that day after showing them several things you can do with the tool. They loved it! I am a demo, never thought I had a use for a score board, never had bought one...and now am absolutely thrilled with my Simply Scored!!!!

I've been going back and forth between the scor-pal and MS for so long that I STILL haven't bought one. Just because something is cheap, doesn't always mean it is the best bang for my buck.

I am going to order the SU one for a few reasons, but mailnly.....

1.) I like the little markers it comes with. I am the worse at reading a ruler. It's actually quite sad just how bad I am. I tend to make a pencil mark on my cutter so I know where to cut. The markers will help with that. Bad I know, but oh well.

2.) Quality and Customer Service. If my Simply Scored Tool were to break I'd had a much better chance of getting it replaced with SU than I would with the MS one. I used to work at Michaels and once it's opened and used you are pretty much up the creek. I don't know about the Scor-pal but aren't they right on the same price point with SU?

HAHAHA...Sure can! I have had the same "discussions" with my own mom. I will tell you that I bought Some reduced fat peanut butter at Aldi's that seriously takes just like the JIF reduced fat. I thought I'd try it since it was half the price that I pay for JIF. Ok, back to your regularly scheduled stamping discussions. :p

i don't have a score-pal, either. i do have a paper trimmer with a scoring blade- when i need to score my cards to fold, i use that. i don't do any other papercrafting projects that would involve scoring. curiosity may get the best of me. plus, i still haven't met my quarterly minimum this quarter!

minders- i buy everything generic, too! except mayo and diet coke. my kids give me a really hard time.

OMG...my mother tried to put generic ketchup in a Heinz bottle because she said I was just a "label snob" and while that may be true to some point...I could tell it wasn't Heinz ketchup! GROSS.

I find that I don't do a lot of the projects that need scoring just because it is a pain in the rear with my paper trimmer

Being from Pittsburgh, it would be blasphemy to use anything BUT Heinz. Plus, it is superior, lol.

I have a scor pal and LOVE IT! I'm not a demo. I plan on buy the SS by SU! - hoping to get some holiday gift money for it - I guess its just me but if its "gift" money I don't mind duplicating a tool vs if its regular money ???? make sense to y'all? does to me LOL. Gift money is for "treats"

so why duplicate -
2 reasons.
1. I really need those markers. I make alot of gift packaging and having those markers to remind me where to score when I'm in assembly mode is a life saver. When doing lots of one thing the mind can go numb and if I have to make say 3 scores on one paper I don't want to tell you how many times I misremembered (is that a word) where to score.

reason 2. I need more frequent places to score. In my boxes and bags etc I often score at odd intervals and it can get complicated to place the paper at x spot and then score at y line. especially if making 30-100 of the same thing and the brain goes numb.

Sorry for the hijack:-) It just reminded me so much of my mom getting generic stuff, lol!

And my grandpa set up a blind taste test of peanut butter for my dad when he was a kid...he could totally pick out the JIF:-) Oh and I love Buffalo Wild Wings but they don't use heinz ketchup, yuck!!!

Ok, now what were were talking about..oh yeah, scoring tools:-)
