Okay, every time I see this question, I cringe to think how many I have. I've just purchased two more Alex's from IKEA to store my individual stamps so now I have four. I keep saying, I should actually count and see. So, here's what I came up with:

215 SU sets
24 SU bgs
17 Papertrey
4 GinaK sets with 2 more on the way
12 Bellas
60 misc. sets
and about 600 individual stamps.

Here's a link to the Alex's if you want to have a look. They are sturdy and really deep.

Alex

Not as many as some, but still a lot. The surprising thing is I went to club yesterday and didn't order a stamp set. Very rare for me. But I did pick one up Embrace Life that is begging to be cut and played with. As soon as I get off here that my plan.

I've been meaning to take an actual inventory -- it's a daunting task though. At last count about about 18 months ago, I had 400+ SU sets. I know that I currently have 33 SU backgrounds 'cause they're on a shelf over my computer where I can look at them all the time . . . pretty! As for everything else, no idea! Just lots of wheels -- haven't even counted those and I have absolutely no idea how many sets of clear stamps and individual stamps -- most of the invidual stamps are either in SU clear boxes by theme, or I'll use them as decoration on another shelf for the season they're for.

Yeah, I'm a collector but I do challenge myself to make sure my rubber sees ink and I'm getting better about that!

Also, I stopped selling my retired stamps about 4 years ago because, inevitably, I'd regret not having one to use. There are actually still a few that I miss.

Funny you should ask...I'm in the middle of that task right now!

My main New Year's Goal is to GET ORGANIZED! The funnest place to start, of course, is with my stamp sets. DH created a GREAT Excel spreadsheet that will let me search by category, list it alphabetically, etc. etc.--he rocks!

I just checked my spreadsheet and here are the numbers: (GULP!!)

Stampin' Up!:
290 sets
The entire Upper Monogram set
18 background stamps
18 reg wheels
12 jumbo wheels

Other:
7 misc sets, clear & wood-mounted
about 25 single stamps

Hi, my name is Melissa and I'm a stampin' addict!

I am not going to count (because I am in denial) but the last time I counted I was suprised by how many I had. I thought I had more! WHen I do count them I just make sure that I am using them. I don't care how many I have as long as I use them!

Oh.. the number is up there. Yet it's never enough. I'll have to count once I get them all sorted and indexed. I have very few sets, most I bought individually or in small sets. My guess would be about 2000...... but not sure...

Yikes... I just have a couple of Michael's sets... I tend to lean more toward the paper crafting side of it and not the stamping side, because I don't have alot of sets. So I make/draw most of my designs. I know it would be nice to have some more stamps, though.

Wow, I feel so inadequate! I have been stamping for almost 2 years and I ONLY have 25 SU sets and I would guess 50+ loose/individual stamps. I just discovered the acrylics and have one set of those and bought 5 mini sets from Michael's this past weekend. I guess my hubby needs to stop traveling and stay home and get a hobby so we can "spend evenly"!!

I haven't counted in a loooong time, but I think I have around 300 SU sets, plus a ton of Papertrey, Gina K., My Favorite Things, CC Designs, A Chemistry with Paper... etc. etc. etc. Hmmm.... is this a sign that I have too much!

I have 60 SU sets and I have only been in this for 1 year now. Many of them are retired, or so I thought. When I was counting I disvcovered that it is not as many as I thought.

I too make sure that they are sets that I will actually use before I buy them because as they say money doesn't grow on trees.

Seriously thought, I have seen in this thread about insurance, Is this something to seriously think about adding to your homeowners policy?? I thought the agent would laugh at me!

I have added a rider on my insurance policy to cover my whole stamping room for $20,000.00. I have all matching furniture including two desks with hutches a matching vertical file with hutch and a beautiful book case to match...that alone is worth a mint. Then there is all the stamp sets and supplies...I guess I dont need to tell you ladies...you all know about the costs....

Um, wow. I thought I was out of control with 116. That doesn't include wheels, but it does include alphas and backgrounds. Now this is what is really disheartening, only 9 of them are current. That 9 includes 3 I just ordered and the two that SU sent the demos last fall. I guess it shows I'm jsut a hobby demo, I would need more if I had a bigger clientel.

I can't count them.....but I have to say that I'm VERY lucky in the fact that quite a few of my friends are avid stampers as well, so a lot of time, I won't buy a set that I know a friend has. Saves me money and vice versa! Probably only about 50 SU! sets, 15 or so PTI sets, 16 or so TAC sets, 3 Hanna sets, 6 or 7 GinaK sets, 20 CTMH sets, about 70 Bellas, and a ton of individual stamps. Lots of SU! wheels and backgrounds too....so I don't know that those count as sets.

I decided to take an inventory after seeing this thread. I have 119 sets, mostly SU with a few TAC, Papertrey and others mixed in. I have sold 20-30 sets over the last few years too. Wow!

I think 25 sets is a lot for only doing it 2 years. I have been doing it at least 10 years and think I have probably 25 sets! I also have lots of individual stamps. Now stamps is another thing... I have lots of those!

I just gave up my demoship and am in the process of whittling down my collection. I started with about 100 sets and allowed myself to only keep the 20 that I loved the most. The other 80 sets are being sold off to free up space.

If I don't count then I don't have to admit I have a problem. I have at least 300 SU sets and I weed out and sell the older ones all the time. I don't know how they breed so well in captivity.

I also have other sets, TAC, Papertrey, Bellas, Penny Black and more. If I counted then I'd know and I'd rather not know.

Here's what you do. Encourage your husband to take up a very expensive hobby. My DH is an amateur Ironman Triathlete--very expensive with all the bikes, wet suits, travel, $160 running shoes, etc. Once your DH starts spending money on his hobby, make sure he understands that your hobby is EQUALLY IMPORTANT and deserves equal dollars.

If he doesn't see things your way or can't get into a hobby of his own, you should get a little job doing something really annoying, like in-home daycare or opening shift at McDs (so he gets awakened really early!), making sure to tell him it's for stamp money. But of course, you can get rid of all the loud, snotty children/sleep in if only he'll set up a regular budget for your hobby.

HTH!

Hmmmm. I have at this time, about 70 CTMH stamp sets and 17 SU stamp sets and 1 SU background stamp. Have about 20 Amuse single stamps.

Papertrey, I borrow from MIL, although I think I need to buy a couple of the sets because I am always asking her for them.

I am at a point where I really buy accessories - tools, embellishment, cardstock, etc - more than stamps now.

Answer: TOO MANY

And I know this because I will be moving out of state soon, and I look at my ever growing collection and wonder if I'll ever be able to use them all! My wood mounted SU sets take up so much room, it's really getting out of hand.

I'm using more and more acrylic stamp sets these days, and they are so easy to store! I took all my new stamp sets from The Saltbox Studio with me this weekend while I was house hunting. They fit in a little compartment pouch in my tote bag. I would needed a dolly and crates to do the same thing with my wood mounted stamps!

I feel kind of silly to say that I only have 13 SU sets, 6 acrylic sets, and maybe 30 single stamps. I have been doing this for 9 years and I think I have figured out what my problem is!!!!! My DH is gonna read this thread as soon as he gets home - he is supportive but can't figure out why the cards in the gallery look so darn different from mine!
