Question How to get smooth area w/ impression folder?

I've seen samples that use the impression folder, but there's an oval that stays smooth/flat in the center and then you can stamp in it. How do you do that?

Here's a tutorial I found:

Dawn's web page has lots of great tutorials and videos that she has put together.

Thanks much! That was a super video. I didn't want to cut my folder just to do this technique, so I was glad Dawn had the idea of using cardboard. I'll be making those tomorrow!!

Sue Nelson also has some tutorials for embossing frames with Cuttlebug folders: http://www.heartprints.net/gallery/CBUG/

kimmer.....In the video referenced in Post #2, the person did cut the center of the embossing folder to the shape of the cardboard template. At least that's what I saw in the video. Perhaps she made a later one where she didn't cut the embossing folder, that I missed.

I have seen other videos done that show how to have the center not get embossed when using the embossing folder.

Here's a video from Cuttlebug that doesn't require cutting the embossing folder.

Selective cuttling... Here's the blog I learned this from. Many more ideas here than just an oval, totally cool.
