I am in the process of remodeling one of my bedrooms to make it my stamping/scrapping room. I am looking for an efficient way to store my paper punches.
It probably depends on how many you have. I absolutely love punches and I have all sorts and descriptions so most of the conventional methods mentioned from time to time in the forums won't work for me. If money were no object I'd go for these:
But since I'm not independently wealthy I use Iris plastic chests on casters and some other more specialized plastic drawer units I bought at Joann's and Target. It's not perfect but it works.
Spending a lot of money is out of the question. LOL I don't think my DH will go for it. The plastic chest probably are more in line with what I want to spend. I just wanted something I could hang on the wall so that I would not use floor space. However, I might have to go with the chest. TFS

I just have mine in shoe boxes at the moment, but what I eventually want to do is to purchase the IKEA rods that you mount on the wall. That way you can see what you have right infront of you. Like was said above, check out the stamp room gallery here, that is originally where I saw the idea. Good luck.
I have a country theme at my house so I like to find ways to repurpose old stuff. I got an old wooden bottle/beverage holder (it looks like a wooden crate with a bunch of separate spaces in it) and it works perfectly. It's set on its side. It's very heavy to hang though so I have it setting on my desktop. You can get them at garage sales or at antique stores reeeeally cheap. HTH! Good luck
Is this shoe organizer vinyl or cloth? Someone told me that the vinyl one does not hold up very well if you have a lot of large punches.
I think the one I got has a cloth background with vinyl pockets. I have a punch (or two) in every single slot and it's holding up well so far. I think I've had it about 6 months.

I have a wooden set of drawers on wheels about 3-4 feet high, with about I believe six drawers (actually I have four of these) I use three or four of the drawers for my punches. I use the wooden set of drawers for a lot of stuff, all the drawers are labeled and things are easy to find and it keeps everything neat and dust free. I got them at the unfinished furniture store and my DH just put a clear stain on them. The are perfect also, since I have all four of them sitting next to each other I put my magazines on top in holders and still have room for my holders of 12 x 12 printed paper, and my cuttlebug.
I just checked out the Bygel rods from IKEA. They are only 1.99 a piece. However, they charge an arm and a leg for shipping. Total order came to $29.00 for three rods.
I just put 2 + 2 together and came up with an idea that will work for me. At least I hope it will. I'll use the Lisa & Becky under table rails and hang that shoe organizer on it, at the end of one of my tables.
I have pegboard mounted on one of the walls in my studio. I purchased some cheap wooden dowels and hung the dowels on my pegboard, then put the punch handle over the dowel, leaning the punch against the pegboard. Kinda hard to explain, but it's areally cheap storage system and keeps them visible for me.

Each drawer is labeled as to shape (ie. heart, oval, circle, etc) or size (small, med. etc). This keeps them out of immediate site, but very handy! Best of all - it works for me!
I store my punches on a large CD rack, and my unmounted stamps on another. This was a no-cost solution for me since we had the CD racks sitting unused in the garage (our crazy large music CD collection has been put on the hard drive, so the CDs are in storage).

I use the shoe organizer and am very happy with it. I am using the vinyl and am having no trouble, so far, with it supporting the weight of the large punches.

There's an Ikea in Atlanta. Not sure how far that is from you though (4 hours from me, but sooo worth it;)). Those rods also have metal baskets and plastic cups to hold stuff. They are awesome!
I like this storage method. However, I have not seen a rack like this before. Do you remember where you found it? Thanks,

ATL is 3 hours away from me. I spoke with my niece who lives in Douglasville. She will let me know when she plans to visit the IKEA store again. The only thing I must do is figure out all of the neat things I might want to purchase. She will purchase them for me and bring them to me the next time she comes here to visit her mom.

My CD rack is very old. We bought our first CDs back in about 1985, in the very early days of CD technology, so the rack dates back about that far. There was very little CD storage available at the time, so I remember that it was pretty pricy; probably nearly $200. I tried googling around a bit using phrases like "CD rack with dowels" and found quite a few out there, so I'm sure they still make this style. They are less expensive now. Hope that helps!

my punches are currently in a drawer, and another part in a box. But I am planning to get couple towel racks from IKEA to put up on the wall. They are 2.99 and 3.99 each, depending on the lenght. (I just need to get around going to IKEA)

I have 3 of the 6 drawer iris carts with every drawer dedicated to only punches...yikes that is a lot of punches..I have a serious problem...dont ask about paper...oh and ribbons...brads, buttons and......

I use the IKEA rods...they are very strong. I used to use plastic drawers but found that the weight of the punches eventually began bending the drawers. Since shipping from IKEA costs so much, I'd recommend looking for regular curtain rods...I've heard that Bed Bath and Beyond has some that work if you're looking for something more decorative and less 'utilitarian.'

I have a clear vinyl one that hangs on the door and I LOVE it! It has two large punches in most of the pouches.....like the SU ovals together, etc. Mine hasn't had any problem at all. I got it at Linens N Things and paid about $15. It is really study.....then I have an old wooden stamp holder. It has about 6 shelves and is about 2.5' wide. I hung it on the wall behind the door. I used to have the punches in drawers but didn't like not being able to see them while creating.
