How do you heat set stamping on fabric?

I stamped on cotton t-shirts for my daughter using craft inks and heat set with heat gun.
Is it the right way?

I've read somewhere that that person heat set with iron. Then if I heat set with iron, do I need to cover the stamped area with paper or a piece of fabric? How do you heat set stamping on fabric? I need your bright advice.....

You can heat set by putting another piece of fabric over the painting and pressing with a dry iron (no steam). I usually use a piece of cotton muslin, or, an old sheet or pillowcase.

You can also heat set by throwing it in your dryer and letting it run for about 30 minutes or so. That's what I did when I painted on my sneakers, as it's too hard to press sneaks<G>

You can also iron on the wrong side...just turn the tee inside out and press using an iron as hot as the fabric will allow. Then turn it rightside out and use a press cloth for the front.

You might want to put something between your paint and the iron board cover...I had one kind of stick to it once<G>
