Default How do you handle it when an on-line company "swindles" you??

I placed an order with an on-line company I found by googling for some CB Combo Die/EF Sets I was having a hard time finding. I received an email comfirmation with the TOTAL COST also on the order. I received the items and they were what I ordered.

Then I got my Credit Card bill. When I was checking my receipts against my Credit Card Bill, I found out that I had been charged almost $10.00 more than my email receipt said I would be charged

So I sent an email off right away, and asked for the difference back. That was a week ago and I have not received a response back from the company.

What have some of you done in these types of situations?

LM

If I were you I'd challenge the charge with the credit card company and use the email as proof. They should be able to fix it.

Do they have a telephone number? I've found that calling is much more effective than email. (Especially when it comes to Provo Craft, anyhow.)

Dispute it with the credit card company! If you wait too long to give the online seller a chance to rectify the situation, it might be too late for the credit card company to do anything for you. Unless I'm mistaken, notifying the credit card company also means they do not charge interest on the disputed amount until the dispute is settled. It's been a long time since I've had to do this, but I believe the credit card dispute must be filed in writing.

Then contact the seller again and let them know you've filed a dispute with the credit card company and why.

I ordered some plastic test tubes in a rack from a company that sells learning toys. I got the test tubes, but no rack. The test tubes themselves were only worth $3, and the rack added $11.95 to the "set" price. So I had spent 5 times what the test tubes were worth.

I tried emailing, with no answer. I tried calling on the phone and only got an answering machine, left a message and nothing.

Finally, I sent another email. I told them that I was very unhappy and that if I didn't receive a refund for the difference between the price of the test tubes and the set with the rack that I would be disputing the charge with my credit card company.

Within a week, I had received a package with a check for $30 (full refund on the test tube set x 2) plus the original missing rack and another full set of tubes with rack. Now the dang things are coming out of my ears, but I got my money back. Don't give up.

why yes it is....but that isn't what she was asking. I would complain to the company and your cc company until it gets sorted out.

FYI she probably doesn't even know where the offending word comes from as most people don't so they're unaware that it could be rude, and your tone was kinda rude too.

Wasn't meant to have 'tone'. As you stated, she probably doesn't know, which is why I stated FYI.

I am very sorry for using a politically incorrect word. I am usually very sensitive to that type of thing...I did not realize this...but now that I think about it, it makes sense. I will ask a Moderator to change my title.

A very sorry LM :-/

JanTink...Thank you for sharing your situation...I really appreciate it. I will give this a try.

And thank you to all of you who gave me helpful feedback in order for me to get this situation resolved with this company.

I felt it was a good topic to bring up here at SCS, because I know a lot of people don't check their credit card bills, and so a company could easily get away with this.

Thanks again,
LM

I have always had good luck contacting the credit card company to dispute it. Most cards have an online contact system. Do it as soon as possible. Good Luck

That's what I would do as well. Be sure to check the back of your CC statement and follow the directions for disputing a charge. Generally it needs to be in writing.

I would email them once more or try contacting them by phone and then after that, if there are no results, contact your credit card company.

I've never heard that before! What about it is incorrect? I've always used the term but I guess I don't know it's original meaning or where it came from. I've always used it as meaning "I've been slighted/ripped off etc"

If I remember right, the term refers to Gypsies. http://www.urbandictionary.com/define.php?term=gypped

Agree, call the number on the CC and dispute it. They will send you a report to fill out. When you return it, attach a copy of the receipt that you were sent agreeing to that amount.
