Default How do I ink an empty wheel cartridge?

I just got my jumbo wheel, and I thought I should just get an empty wheel cartridge instead of a color cartridge, since I have all these re-inkers on hand. My thinking was that it would be easy to change the colors by rinsing out the old ink and putting in a different color. But the cartidge took a lot of ink, and I had trouble getting it evenly distributed. Now I have verigated green holly leaves due to the uneven inking of the cartridge (not bad, but not what I was going for). Can anyone help me?

Keep inking the lighter parts until the variegation stops. It takes lots of ink for those big ones.

Thanks for your help. I'll keep inking.
