Tonight I am having fun playing around with my stamps. I realized how happy and calm and peaceful I feel when playing with this hobby. I have chalks, inks, watercolors, pens, crayons, glitter, PE, EP, Twinkling, STAMPS, ribbon, techniques and more techniques AND THIS WEBSITE....I have enough to keep me busy for years. This hobby is beyond description!
I am thrilled that I found it; I am thrilled that I can at last do something creative, even though I never thought I was a creative person. And I am thrilled to share this passion with my sister (dilly) and possibly new found friends.
Ok, sappy and sentimental, I know. I'll be wishing I could delete this tomorrow!
I think your words are very well put, and how most everyone here feels. It is not sappy. I think you are great to share your emotional moment! We should be grateful to have such a wonderful hobby.
(((Denise)))) Not to worry, lol, there are a LOT of sappy, sentimental stampers here! There really IS something extra special about stamping. I know so many people who've tried a ton of crafts and then found stamping and stayed with it longer than anything else.
Boy do I agree with you. I just love coming down to my craft room early in the morning before the kids are awake and just playing with all my stamps. There is such serenity and peace. Time and money well spent is how I feel about this awesome hobby.
I think we all feel the same way or we wouldn't be doing it. There is just something about the smell of paper and the feel of rubber. Just as my son, lol.
This is the 1 hobby that I have stuck with for 8 yrs +. Your comments apply to alot of us (if not all---LOL)! I feel so calm when I'm in my stamp room..................

You are so right. Even when I'm prepping for a workshop or class -- when I should feel stressed -- I just LOVE stampin'!
My favorite thing to tell people about my hobby is that you can sit down for a half-hour (even less) and get up with a completed, and beautiful, handcrafted item.
I feel the same as you. I was never artistic, but now when I make somethng that comes out nice, I'm very proud. It's nice to have a hobby that helps makes others happy, as we mail our cards to friends, family, and sometimes strangers. Yesterday, was my Aunt's 80th birthday. She knew when she saw the envelope that it was from me, and appreciates that I made it especially for her. She saves all my cards. (now that's sappy) Eileen

Denise - I totally agree with you. I started stamping as *therapy* to get my mind off of the day to day grind of life. My sister, Kim, introduced it to me. when she asked if I wanted to make cards I looked at her with sour look on my face and said *I can't create anything!* I started by copying layouts from the catty and she showed me how to do some basic techniques. It has grown from there and I absolutely love it! I guess I'm just as sappy as you!
Christine
My sentiments exactly! Stamping is such great therapy for me, it is so calming to just squirrel myself away in my stamp room and create things that will make someone else smile. It's such a great feeling of accomplishment.

I describe going to a paper store as loving to fondel the paper to my husband and he thinks I'm nuts. It is the most pleasureable experience to send someone something I am proud to say I made myself. It's a world all my own. Yes I do love it!

I, too, feel like this when I'm busy creating in my studio----->
So, we're in the sappy stampers club together, eh?!
It's a good and wonderous thing!
I hafta laugh with this little story:
My DD and I were at my son's Egg McMuffin soccer game (early morning), and it was cold, and misty. We sat there huddled under blankets watching Taylor, and a father and daughter walked by. The little girl couldn't have been more than about 5, and she was skipping alongside her father's long-legged steps.
The look on her face was so joyful. And, she just blurted out:
"I'm so happy!!!!"
And, you could see on her face that that is exactly how she felt at that moment, just skippin' alongside her father in that wet grassy field! He, paused, and grinned down at her, obviously pleased as punch to see his daughter so happy she'd like to bust with it!
Later on, back in my studio putting finishing touches on a project, I just kept seeing that face, and hearing her joyful little explosion over and over in my head, and, I couldn't help but say, out loud to myself, "I'm so happy!!!!"
With a big sappy grin from ear to ear!

Well, try tyaking care of your mother (on Hospise) full time 24/7 and see how much you need this craft Without it she may be in a nursing home by now. My dining room is now my stamping room and it is right next to mom's bedroom so I can see and hear her. I can sit and stamp for hours or just 2 minutes if that's all the time I have.
Thanks for letting me share this with you all,
Mary

NO, not sappy at all!!! Just sweet & nice & honest!
I feel the same way. I have a little studio in my basement and it is the happiest place on earth for me. As soon as I go down there, I can feel the calm come over me ... well, as long as it's not a mess like it is now!
And I have come across the nicest people on this site .. it's truly a blessing!
I went from quilting to stamping. I think what I like is that unlike so many hobbies I am able to acutally make everyone I want to , something. With Quilting , knitting, crotcheting, (which are all great hobbies) it takes so long to complete something. The event I was making something for ,went by and I never completed the item :-(
I am getting very "attatched" to stamping already!! I think it is very sappy hobby because you are motived by the love you have for the people you stamping for :-)) JMHO
