Default Hobby Demonstrators

I am a demonstrator who has had no luck really doing workshops or having a stamp club. I did for a while but the club eventually goes away when people have been in it a while.

So my question is (yes there is a question) for those of you who do not do workshops or anything, do you have trouble meeting your quotas and what do you do with all the stuff?

Thanks for sharing your thoughts.

Question 1: So far I haven't had trouble meeting quota, but I have the feeling I'm about to since I'm trying to curb my spending some.

Question 2: Collect it of course! You mean I'm supposed to do somthing with all this stuff I buy?

I'm a hobby demo and I have absolutely no trouble meeting my minimums. BUT I do have trouble going over!! I'm trying to get better about that and making sure I'm splitting my spending evenly each quarter. As far as what I do with all the stuff...I use it.

I'm a Demo (TAC) and I don't have any problem with meeting my Quota.

Our is only $100.00 every 4 months.

Have you try putting up flyers in the stores. Or a Ad in the Newspaper.

Sometimes this helps. Find other's that are interested in getting together and joining your Club. Or have a workshop.

I too am a hobby demonstrator and have no urge to sell to others or to plan workshops. However, I am finding that it has become harder and harder for me to meet the quota on my own, especially after a few years of collecting all the supplies and so many stamps from the same line. It has also been difficult to spend enough to meet the quota as I'm finding that there are other great companies out there to spread the wealth. Bottom line, I think I'm going to lose the demonstratorship.

I am a hobby demo but I do sell to my SIL's and a few friends come over once in while to stamp and then place an order. If I had to do it all mysef? I would no longer be a demo of any kind.

I offer my discount to anyone. It has helped me stay active. Just getting by these days. I use all my goodies to make cards for the troops, the two swim teams I supply, my hubbys desk and the church bookstore..wow..now wonder I am always broke..lol
Blessings.

Find a few folks like me, that order one or two times a year, offer your discount, do CDO and you make your mins easier.

I am a hobby demo, I have tried to do classes etc, but no luck.
I haven't had trouble meeting quotas. As well I do craft fairs and sell my cards and other things I make, as well I make a lot of gifts, so that is how I use my stuff. Sometimes I splurge with stamps I really want, but don't need. LoL

I'm a hobby demo but I just signed on. My first order was over $500 which will cover me until March 09 if I want it to (I signed up on Oct 2).

I think I'll be fine meeting my minimums myself for a couple of years. There is so much that I want. And I have found a customer completely by accident that will help as well. My mom also orders a few things.

Once it becomes a problem to meet minimums, I'll drop my demoship. But I don't see that happening for quite a while

Yep. I just can't afford to spend that much myself. There is one person that orders from me every month and I share my discount with her. That helps a lot, but if I don't spend all I can, they don't get met. I've been in pending a few times already, lol. I doubt if I'll be a demo much longer. My biggest problem is the only way there is any chance of me meeting my minimums, I have to spend every penny I can on SU. I just got sick of doing that. I LOVE their stuff, but I don't want that to be the only place I could buy things. KWIM?

I do classes every month so just buying supplies and things for the next class kepts my minimuns easily.

I did my first bazaar and made 10 new contacts! plus a couple more that "may" call for info on my classes.

When I did my first class I invited everyone I knew pretty much. I had 13 in my first class!

I have not done a workshop or a club yet. Maybe some day?

Good luck!

I have only been an SU hobby demo since May. It is really easy making min's now. I have a plan that ends with the markers and that is as far as I am thinking. I know my time will come but don't want see it coming for a bit. I was spending quite a bit on ebay before and decided to try and catch the stamps I wanted before long retired. At least that is the reasoning I used on my DH - hahaha

I honestly have never gotten anything from CTMH. I am fairly new to stamping (since January), and most of the consumables that I use are SU. I also have a lot of used SU stamps and some new. I just spent $80 last week on paper and envelopes for my Christmas gifts, I'm making personalized notecards for 11 people.

I recently stopped doing workshops and classes and I meet my minimums with just a few customers ordering now and then. I really miss the big- money days of yore but I'm adjusting to having less income and stamp money but more time to use what I have for what I really want to make. If the day comes that I have no one else ordering then I will get dropped as I don't have that much stamping money on my own.

I sell my cards in an artist's co-op and make enough to meet my minimums. I have one friend that I share my discount with but she has almost everything she wants from SU.

I don't have a problem meeting my minimums -- it isn't a problem. I'm not a out-there-meeting-people-type, so I really don't like doing workshops, although I do a couple a year for friends. I don't pass along my discount, but I do give them 2-day shipping.

I've been an SU! hobby demo for 5 years, and I sell cards (favors, programs, announcements, etc, etc) to make my minimums and splurge on other stuff (nestabilities, AMuse stamps, etc). I think I have hit the SU! wall though...I am really tight on money, I don't need any more stuff right now (I focus on consumables, not on stamp sets). I will go into pending January 1st. If I get a big project between now and then, I might stay in demo land.

I was going to suggest this- maybe share demo perks with a best stampin/scrappin' bud and keep yourself active? Or sign up with someone who will do this with you - $150 every 3 months is not that hard lol!

I have been a hobby demo for the past 2 years and I fear it's not going to last much longer. When we got this last catty there were maybe half a dozen things on my wishlist from it and that's not enough to make my minimums for the 2 quarters it will cover. I have a few coworkers who scrap too and they occasionally order from me but they are branching out their intereste to other companies and their orders are becoming smaller and less frequent. In the past I've ordered cattys for them but I'm really thinking that for this next one I'm just going to let it go. It's just not worth spending 50 bucks on a box of cattys when I won't be able to recoup my cost or even help people order from for long.

I don't order boxex any longer, I will do a CDO or I have another demo send and I pay for it. I have too few customers myself.

I have been offering my discount to others so I can meet my mins this quarter. Money has been so tight. Hopefully next quarter I wont have to do that. But I dont mind sharing my discount. Esp if I can trade.

I am an SU hobby demo and I am my only customer. It's getting harder and harder for me to meet my minimums. Plus, there are SO many other stamp companies out there that I want to buy from, it's getting difficult to meet the minimums.

I just gave up being a hobby demo. I decided to put myself on a stamping diet and start using everything I've been buying and hoarding. I've only bought adhesives since Oct.

I let my demoship lapse. It used to be fairly easy to drop $100 a month on SU but time$ have changed!! It is kind of fun just being a customer anyway................

Joan, do you mean you let it lapse after re-signing up, or are you referring to your original sign up?

I'm a two time lapser!! Signed up, Lapsed, Signed up and scarfed up some goodies at 30% off, and lapsed again.

They need AA for SU Lapsers!

I'm with Joan. I'm close to being done. I haven't ordered anything this quarter and with Christmas coming, I don't know that I would be able to afford it. I don't know anyone who stamps (in person ) or I would offer them my discount to stay active.

I just my demonstratship lapse. I also had trouble finding customers so I become my own best customer for awhile. I love the SU products but there are other companies out there with great products and I really prefer to have the flexibility.

Where in So Cal are you? Yeah, I'm a hobby demo. I usually do 1 ws a month, but with my crazy schedule and times just being tight...those have been kinda sparce and I've been having to meet my mins.....was thinking of letting it go so that I could spend where ever I want too, vs HAVING to spend in one place.......maybe we could pat each other's back if we are in the same neighborhood!
