I could no longer meet my minimums comfortably and really didn't need/want that much new SU supplies every quarter.

Finally after 5+ years as a demo, I resigned last month. A wonderful SCSer offered to share her discount with me. She doesn't live her, but that isn't a problem since she places the order as a Customer Direct Order for me.

That helps both of us.

I DO miss the demo board at SCS, but I will survive that.

Cheers!!!

I've been a hobby demo for a little over 2 years. I'm not the kind of person who can look for customers. And although I love the CS and matching accessories, I'm getting bored with their stamps. I like the ones I do have, but I don't need more of the same. I just put in a small order... the first since August. I will be pending in January. I already have a new demo and club to belong to in January. Money is tighter, and what I do have is going more to other companies.

In June I stopped being a CTMH consultant. I did it for 3 years and pretty much just supported my hobby. But after getting all the inks, paper, etc, I got tired of having to buy stuff that I wasn't really using. And shipping is expensive.

I just became a demo in august and so it has been super easy for me to meet my min! I am surprised reading how many are lapsing! There are reasons I never even considered. . . bored with SU?! I hope that doesn't happen to me!

I plan on being mostly hobby but I have a hostess club and am starting other online clubs in 2009 so I should be able to meet my mins with those.

I'm another TAC hobby demo, and it's so easy to meet the minimums of $100 every 4 months! And the stamps are great!! I love that company!!! Karen

I think the more years I do it, the more you find you do not need to keep ordering stuff. I admit that SU is my favorite company and do not long to order much from other companies.

I like the idea of offering my discount to others to get them to order from me to meet my minimums, although a lot of people who have stamped with me only do it if they want to come to the workshop and do not want to own the stuff. (Did that make sense?)

I also wonder if I stopped being a demo and became a customer again (cuz my upline would let me back into her things) if I would spend nearly as much money. Dunno. Something to think about.

Anyone elses thoughts on that.

With the economy, a lot of demos are looking at their hobby/business more seriously from a financial standpoint.

I am being more frugal about my own personal spending. I like the poster above who is putting herself on a "stamping diet". Very funny!
I am a vendor at crops, and I am keeping less cash & carry items & encouraging orders. I do give discounts on shipping for my customers.

I want to stay an Angel, and with the low minimums, my own frugality, & keeping my customers happy, I will stay active

I'm a new hobby demo and I belong to a small stamp club (5 members) and I offer a 15% discount to them with some conditions. If I put in an order and they tag along they have to come get their own stuff. If it's just their own order then of course it's delivered to them. If I put in something with their order then I just wait to get it at our monthly meeting. This saves on gas, we all get a discount, and I make a tiny bit of money on the sale. So far, they have done a couple of catalog parties and with our orders I'm doing ok.

I have enough things that I want and with with my friends putting in small orders now and then, I think I can make it through next year.

I think Jr consultants get 10% commission.
