Hi y'all! I just got into this discussion. I am Sue's demo and Krista's upline. The above definition is great for explaining the shoebox swap. If anyone needs more explanation, let me know.

Sue, I would check out the rec. Also, there may be a possibility of us using Taylor Hall since we wouldn't be selling anything there. If you want, I can check. Let me know what you would like me to help with. You know I'll help with anything I can.

For those looking for hotels. We have some of the "big name" hotels as well as some small motels. There is one small motel here that I have been told (by a very reliable source) is reasonable and clean. Let me know if you have any questions about that also.

Sue, I'll email you! Dawn

Hi Sue!

Yes, I think I would be interested in this!!! I'm hoping my upline would be too....as well as a few of our customers maybe?!??!
We're in Bloomington/Normal, Illinois so we wouldn't need a hotel room, but would love to join in! I will check with them and see what they think....!

Thanks for the pm about it!!

Good Morning!

Have we set a date yet for the shoebox swap? I'm hoping I am free the Saturday that is chosen. I have prior commitments on the 12th and 19th of March, but it looks like the other two Saturdays are open and April is wide open so far.
I would be willing to drive for the girls in my area (Troy, Collinsville, SAFB, Hamel and anyone else who needs a ride) I have a Trailblazer SUV that seats five.
I lived in Lincoln my freshman and sophmore years in high school(graduated in 1983 from Collinsville), so it will be pretty cool to go back and see how things have changed.
I love shoebox swaps! We do these at my level one meetings with my upline and there are usually about ten of us and we get some really needs ideas from these!

Have a great day!

Oh, so cool! Glad to have both Ellen and Karol and friends join us. I'm looking at either April 2 or April 9. I need to know everyone's preferences. I'll find out about the Rec Center today. That will be easy for you to find, Ellen, it's right next to the high school.

Thanks for responding.

Sue-

I just found out that my upline, Gigi, can't go on the 2nd as it's her 8 year old sons bday....so the ninth would be better for us on this end!!

THanks for all your organizing efforts!!!

I think the carpooling could be lots of fun! I am going to try to keep my calendar clear for those two weekends.

Karol,
I just got home from reserving the Rec center for April 2nd. The 9th was not available on their calendar.

Alrighty - so we have a date! Yippee! Now I can mark my calendar. Will you be posting the exact address/directions to the rec center? And how much should we all contribute? I'm sooooo excited about meeting you all!!

I tried to explain it to my mom yesterday and she just looked at me like I was off my rocker. But you all understand the thrill of gathering with a bunch of like-minded people and sharing ideas!

Yippee!!! I can't wait!!!!!

Hi Kristina! Yes, I had written down your user name so I actually had a face in my head when I saw "you".

Hey Ladies - I'd be happy to drive. I have a Jetta, but we could fit four of us (including me) in it and the trunk has plenty of space for our supplies! Just let me know!

Or if someone has a larger vehicle that will fit more people, I'm up for that too!

I'm getting soooo excited about this event and it's two whole months away!

Just realized that I won't be able to attend. I'm taking classes to get a Masters and next term (March and April) my class will be on Saturdays.

Hope you all have fun and if you decide to do another one, be sure to post the info on the SCS site because maybe I'll be able to come next time!

I checked with a lady who is signing up under me later this month, and we're both definitely in! Plus I may have another one decide to come! This just sounds like it's going to be so much fun!!

Either date works for us right now. There will probably be 2 or 3 of us from Bloomington coming down.

Sue--let me know if I can help in any way to get this set up. Like I said, I go through Lincoln a couple times a week on my way to Springfield. By the way.....do we already know each other from the airport???? My DH is a pilot, too.

Lisa V.,
Thank you for the offer to help. As time draws near, I'll let you know.

I've only lived in Lincoln 3 years. My husband has been a pilot for 35 years and was a member of EAA for quite a while so he and your husband may have crossed paths. He has lived in Lincoln 25 or so years. We may have common pilot acquaintances, though.

I just got my pilot's license in October. I fly a little Cessna 150. My husband flies a Cessna Skymaster (twin engine).

Looking forward to meeting and stamping and LEARNING from all of you gals - I'm fairly new to this stamping world. Hoping you will enjoy your day here. I'll be attaching a form sometime this week with all the details and a form to fill out and send in.
Sue

I am so excited there seems to be a lot of interest, this will be loads of fun. I have already warned DH that he can not make any plans for the weekend we do this so I will be able to come.

Now I am already thinking about what to make for the shoebox. I have never done anything like this before and I am actually doing my first swap next week.

Just to let everyone know - I'm working on a form that I will attach later today for all to fill out and send to me. Fee for this is $5.00. If that creates a hardship for you, please pm me. I'm going to have a sign up list on the original post (meaning the first post in this thread) for snacks, please let me know which snack you're willing to bring. The time for this fun event will be 10a.m. - 4p.m. We will order in pizza for lunch.

The room at the Rec center is very nice for this. I stopped and paid the fee yesterday - $36.00 - and looked at the room. It has two sinks, a long counter, and ample room for whatever we're making.

After talking with ddphelps yesterday, I've decided to put a cap of 25 people on this swap. If you're planning on coming, and if you're bringing others with you - I NEED TO KNOW NAMES AND HOW MANY. Please pm me the info. This swap is now closed.

There will be a deadline to send back the info form - I'll let you know that this afternoon.

This will be a fun day of creating and learning. I plan to have some drawings for prizes with a grand prize at the end of the day. I would suggest letting me know as soon as possible if you're coming. LOOK AT THE ORIGINAL POST (the first post in this thread). If your name is already there you do not have to pm me. If it isn't there, please send me a pm.

Thank you everyone! Sue

Okay, this may be a stupid question, but here goes anyway...

For our shoebox swap, are we doing full cards or just card fronts? Also, I noticed the sign-up sheet says that everything should be already stamped. So all we will be doing is assembling all the cards?

Yes, I'm a newbie to this sort of thing!

Thanks for any clarification you can offer my tiny brain!!

Danita - Thank you for asking. I'm new at this, too. I think I'd like to do full cards, unless anyone has an objection. And good point about the stamping part - I think it may be better to NOT stamp the supplies - then we can be creative and stamp in a different way or place if we want. Is that ok with everyone else? Sorry that I didn't have those decisions made more clearly - I sure appreciate your help.

Sue,
That sounds good. I personally would prefer full cards because then we can use them. And sometimes I like to be a bit creative and do something slightly differently so I would also prefer to stamp myself.

Of course, this is all up for discussion as far as I'm concerned. I'm completely flexible. Mostly just looking forward to meeting everyone. Oh yeah, and getting new ideas!

I've updated the sign up attachment that's on the first post of this thread. I omitted having the Shoebox supplies stamped - but do bring a stamp and stamp pad for us to use.

I hope I haven't frustrated everyone.

It has been brought to my attention that one of our stampers only sees one of the pages I attached to the first post at the beginning of this thread when she clicks on the attachment. That means she was not able to see any of information on the first page. Anyone else having that same problem? There are two pages - the first one is sort of an information flyer, the second one is the form to fill out and send me.

Are any of you techies about this sort of thing? That attachment is a Word 2000 doc. Should I have done it in a pdf file? I haven't a clue how to do that.

Also, the "stamping tip" I mention in the attachment is some little nugget you've learned along the way that you would like to share with us. I know all of you know at least one.
