Question HELP! Scratch n' Sniff is not working!

So, I have a demo on Wednesday. For a make-n-take, the ladies will stamp on a iced cupcake. We are using food color markers and the strawberry from Sweet & Sassy. The hostess asked for this two months ago, so we'll do it. But, I want to have them emboss something, because of the embossing promo. So, I thought a cute idea would be to do a scratch n' sniff mini card to match the cakes, with strawberry koolaid to scent the EP. Well, I tried it today. It smelled wonderful, but looked awful. The koolaid was an icky pinky purple color that matched nothing.

So, I stamped the strawberry in black and used koolaid to watercolor it in. That looked great! And smelled yummy! But, no embossing was used - so it really defeated the purpose. Of course, to use black EP would be the answer - but I don't have black EP. Nor does my upline or any of my teammates.

So, I'm stuck now. How can I add embossing to this make-n-take? The hostess is looking forward to scratch n' sniff. What do I do? Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. I'm going to you guys - you are the experts!

What about using versamark and your black ink then emboss in clear. Then you could still do the watercoloring with the Kool-aid.

So, I "dip" my stamp in the versamark, and then "dip" into the black ink, and then embossing powder will stick to black??? Is that what you mean? I'm gonna try it as soon as the supper dishes are cleared away from the table!

THANK YOU!!!

If you have the versamarker, do this: Stamp it in black, the fill it in with the versamarker and emboss that. I just did a watermelon this way.

Use clear koolaid if you don't want the koolaid color.

Make sure you are using SUGAR-FREE koolaid. It sounds like you used regular koolaid & the heat from the embossing gun cooked the sugar in the mixture!! The recipe I have (although have never tried!!!) is 1 pkg sugar free koolaid to one tsp crystal clear embossing powder! Good Luck!!!

Hello!

I am currently working on this myself...
What I did was use 1 tsp clear embossing powder to 1 tsp sugar free jello

I am currently using the fresh fruits set... I stamped it in craft orange then sprinkled the mixture on and heated it...You have to be very careful not to over heat it...

I have in the past used sugar free strawberry jello with the Oh so Sweet set...very cute...

pumpkin pie spice with Carved & candlelit set too...smelled wonderful...but didn't care for the brown color... I didn't end up playing with this to work it out...but is a nice idea....

I am planning on using cinnamon with the gingerbread house set in the catalog too for an upcoming swap...

The other mixtures that I have been given recipes for are but I haven't used:

1 tsp sugar free item to 3 tsp embossing powder

1 tsp spice to 1 tsp clear embossing powder.

as for alternative ways to adhere:
stamp in basic black. stamp over the image in versamark then coat in mixture then heat being very careful not to over heat & burn...

I have also used the versamark marker to emboss and it worked just fine too...

Good Luck!
Mish

I tried the versamark and black - I worked! I did use sugar free koolaid - although, I had the no-name brand as opposed to real koolaid! Maybe that makes a difference. It seemed "chunkier" than what I was expecting. It wasn't that I cooked it too long though - it was an ugly color before I heated it! And the color didn't change. I think I will search for clear koolaid - didn't know that existed! I guess I'm not up on my koolaids! Does it say clear on the package? And will it still smell like strawberries?
