Default Help! Postage question

HI!
Mu husband preprinted some priority stamps for me at his office. Can I use them anytime? I am just making sure ...the date is on it and I want to make sure you do not have to use them on that date!!

Thanks!

according to the postal service, preprinted postage has to be used on the date it is printed. I think if it is printed on a Friday, you have until Monday morning to get it in.

At my current job, I have to print out postage strips in different denominations for the different size envelopes I use when I travel to some of our sites that don't have postage meters. Our meter has the option to print strips without the date that can be used at any time but you have to specifically go in and choose that option. The default is to print the date. If the date is printed, it must be used immediately. I have some strips that were printed months ago without the date that are still usable. I forgot once to change to the "no date" option and printed several strips with dates which then had to be thrown away because I didn't need them that day. (Didn't tell the boss about that one LOL!);)

Erin,

Maybe it depends on your post office. Jimmi got this answer at her post office.

Yes, it is my understanding that you have to use that type the day it is printed. I made a HUGE mistake one time, and I just had no idea. I was working offsite and was in the main office on this particular day. I decided to take care of what I could while I was there so I didn't have to go back again. I did a bunch of envelopes with the postage meter and took them with me for later use. OOPS! I felt TERRIBLE. I don't think they knew what happened just because they probably figured I actually did use them that day, but I still felt really bad! Now I know I guess.....

As Vera pointed out I just bought some Priority stamps at the PO the other day and the ones I bought from the self-serve machine have the date of purchase on them and the postal worker said you can use them for as long as the postage amount is correct, the date of purchase means nothing.

The worker actually looked at me like I was totally crazy to think that I had to use it that day...

Even the postal worker only had printed postage for me to buy they didnt even have the actaul Priority stamp.

Drop it in the mailbox and don't look back;)
