Default HELP: ink & cardstock issue

OK....It isnt me! Everytime I stamp onto SU whisper white cardstock it smudges and smears! ESPECIALLY when I use SU Basic Black dye ink. Isnt is suppose to be IDEAL when you use this combo together????

I let it sit a few minutes, and it still smears like crazy when I try to use it. I dont have time to sit around for hours while DYE INK drys and I've tried this on several different occasions in different atmospheres.

so, does anyone else have this problem & what can I do to stop it????

Adria

About 2 years ago, there was, IMHO, a bad batch of whisper white. Everything I used on it smeared. I set it aside and only used it for bases. To be honest, I haven't bought it since.

I haven't heard of any issues since then. It is possible that you got a bad batch. You should call your demo and have it replaced. I think there is a 90 day limit on returns, but SU is excellent at sending replacements for products that are defective.

also, I'm a SU! demo...sorta sucked when I was demonstrating a technique and trying to "sell" the cardstock but then it smeared and ruined darn near everyone's cards!

I have that trouble, but only with real red ink. Like Kendra, I am switching over to Papertrey Ink's white cs...all su inks dry on it really fast.

I still use and love my whisper white BUT I don't use the Basic Black ink very much. I only use Black Staz-on. It has never let me down so far.

I abandoned SU Basic Black years ago. I use StazOn and Versafine Onyx Black.

They know about it, it has been an issue off and on for awhile now. But call them anyways. It never hurts, and they may think that with the time that has passed, that the problem is solved. I mainly use stazon with the whisper white, but the few times I have used the classic black, I haven't had any trouble, or at least on such a big scale. I actually just used some at my last stamp camp and it was fine, but I used the stazon. My biggest issue is that the white is so thin and doesn't work well for using it as a base anymore.

I just made a card last week with Basic Black ink and Whisper White cardstock and didn't have a problem. I bet it's a bad batch of paper.

I have not had a problem with it smearing at all with my convention swaps. Seems like I remember hearing about a bad batch a while back.

If you like the PTI white, you can get a bright white 110lb paper at Staples for $14.99 for 250 sheets- much better than the $12 for 100 at PTI- and no shipping if you have a Staples nearby. OfficeMax, Office Depot, etc, probably also have it. HTH

I do not have SU basic black. I threw it away years ago.
It just did not work properly. Never stopped to figure out why. If it doesn't do the job time after time - ditch it.
PTI is a wonderful CS. Wal-Mart has a 110# as well. Georgia Pacific I think.

hmm...maybe it's the SU! BB ink? I've been using the whisper white out of many different packs so if it's a "bad batch" then It's been going on for a long while and it's going FAR! KWIM?

I use Memories black with the SU! whisper white and have no problems. I've never cared much for the SU! basic black ink and rarely use it.

I *love* Neenah Classic Crest Solar White, 80# Cover Weight Card Stock--fabulous for colored pencil, Copics, pastels/chalks, regular markers, and both dye and pigment ink stamping, etc. AND, I just found the 110# version while down in California recently! I wish now I'd bought a lot more. Great stuff! Next chance I get, I'm buying a whole ream of it.
