I like to combine the card and a gift into one by making an explosion box with a gift card/money in the center. I research the school colors and decorate with those. Here is one made to order for a friend.

Default custom school paper

I've used custom school papers to make simple cards. My pictures are not great but here are two that I made:

Back when we had a local scrapbook store she carried paper specific to our h.s.
