Wow..I use the colorbox Fluid Chalk Inks all the time and I have never noticed that happening....I are you using the pigment? That is the only thing I can think of...
blessings.

I use ColorBox and VersaMagic. I haven't noticed a difference between the two as far as smudging goes...but maybe I am not paying close enough attention.
Goodness, I've never had that problem either. I thought half the point of the chalk inks was that they were so fast-drying. I'll go and stamp a couple of things now and double check. Are you using glossy card, that's the only think I can think of that might slow down the drying?
Well, I've just tried ColorBox chalk ink on both matt and gloss card, and even on the gloss it's dry in no time at all, whereas I know I'd need a heat-gun for pigment ink on gloss.
Nope - I've just tried a dark brown (my fingers are a bit blue from doing some faux denim earlier, so the pale colour I tried first wouldn't have shown much) and there's not a trace of it coming off.
That's pretty frustrating for you, I hope somebody else can offer more useful advice.

I had used color box dark brown and creamy brown on the edge of a scrap layout I finished a couple of days ago. I did not notice any ink coming off as soon as I finished and I just took a white napkin to the edge and rubbed pretty hard, barely any came off, maybe just enough to tell that part of the napkin was not a white as the rest.
This was inked on designer paper by Echo not card stock......
Are you using chalk or chalk ink? For chalk I sometimes seal it with a fixative to stop it smudging. If you use versamark ink under chalk, it won't come off.

Not to hi-jack this thread, but how do you get chalk ink off of a clear stamp?
Last Saturday I was part of a card swap and didn't see that my stamp did not get cleaned between each use. I have tried scrubbing it with a stamp cleaner my friend had (I don't know the name of it, it is blue that is all I know). The stamp is by Hero Arts, from what I can tell it still stamps, but not clear anymore. The ink was Colorbox Chalk ink - dark brown.

Usually I have a little bit left on my clear stamps, but wow that thing is covered!
I generally use a little bit of a gentle soap and a scrub brush. {I use a nail brush like in the picture.}
I am not sure what it will do after being on there for awhile.
Even so, {just as long as no ink is coming off when you stamp it} your stamp should still work the same...it just won't be the same color.
Some colours of chalk ink really stain clear stamps. I've never minded because it makes them easier to see. To be honest I've never found anything that takes some colours off, not even ultra-clean.
I use chalk ink (ColorBox) all the time & would have said it had never happened to me --- but I was making valentines and used my ColorBox Lipstick on a glossy cardstock. It took forever to dry and I had to buff it with a soft cloth to make it look right. I'd never had that happen until then, and I have no idea why it did. And only on that one type of cardstock.

Yes, yes, yes! I would also like to know if anyone has found something that helps remove chalk ink. I have been using Chestnut Roan and Charcoal by Colorbox as well as the Versamagic dew drops that I stocked up on with coupons for you know what store but my clear stamps are so hard to clean and I want to avoid using Staz-on cleaner ...

I love Ultra-Clean by Superior .. I've even cleaned acrylic paint off after it dried. I do use a light touch with a soft toothbrush for difficult areas. I've kept that same toothbrush at the ready for craft inks and black ink ... everything. I know this is frustrating when it seems someting doesn't want to budge. Hang in there!

I have no advice--just reminded me that I bought some for a purpose that I just had to have for a project (not sure which one at this moment) and sadly they are still tightly secured in their packages. Time to try them out and see if I have a problem with them. Now I just need a good project to try.....

Have you tried Grandma's Secret Rubber Stamp Cleaner? I don't have personal experience with cleaning a BADLY stained stamp such as yours, but this cleaner has worked on getting some dark stains off used stamps I recently purchased. You spray it on and leave it sit for a minute or two. Then use a nail brush, or old toothbrush and gently scrub, rinse in cool water.
You might have to do it a few times. It might not look like "new" but you ought to be able to get some of it off.
to the original poster: I can only think of two things.
First, are your chalk ink pads old? Maybe they have a shelf life and yours are past that point? I don't have any personal experience with this problem. My Colorbox chalk inks are old, I use them infrequently, but mine dry quickly and don't rub off as others have said.
Second, and this is weird I know, but maybe it's just the natural oils in your skin? For instance, some people have trouble with jewelry always tarnishing on their fingers or wrists, jewelry that's just fine on other people will be a mess after they wear it for a while. I realize this doesn't offer you a "fix" for the problem, but I didn't want you thinking you were crazy because of your smudging ink problem! :-)
