HELP..card message needed

Last fall, one of my closest friends from highschool lost her sister to a drug OD. Tomorrow would have been her 31st birthday. I received a call to join them for a BBQ, etc to acknowledge the day.
I had planned on sending a Thinking of You card to her & her mom. I have the cards all made, but am at a loss as to what to put inside.
Any suggestions?

I like that sentimate as well.....try to think of some positive moments shared and remind them of those....its hard to get over any kind of death in the family, but especially one that they might feel they could have prevented...even though its not there fault.

How about

Remembering (name) with you on her birthday.

I used something like that (don't remember the exact phrase) in a card for friends on the birthday this year of the baby they lost at birth a few years ago. Agonized for days about what sentiment to use.

I used the following 2 verses.
For my friend:
Someone so special will never be forgotten.
And for her mom:
Remembering with you the life of someone so special.

They really enjoyed them. I also gave them helium filled balloons to write a message on & let go when they were at the cemetary.

All in all, I day I really wasn't looking forward to turned out really well.

I guess I am thinking a little different here..........this isn't her funeral, sympathies have already been said. This would have been a joyful day and they are marking it by something very casual (a cook-out) which to me means happy times. I think if it were me I would say something like, "Hoping this day brings back many fond memories of birthdays shared with (her name). She will forever fill, not just our memories, but our hearts as well." Maybe I'm wrong......

I'm so glad the day turned out well. Sounds like the verses you chose were perfect.
