Default Help with border punch

I bought the Doily Lace border punch (Martha Stewart) and, try as I might, it will not punch cardstock. I emailed EK Success since thay are the manufacturers and they told me that it was only made to punch paper. There is nothing on the punch or the box that says "paper only". I see that many stampers are using that punch on their cards. Have I bought a lemon? EK Success did not seem too obliging!
Please give me your thoughts/experiences with this punch. I really love it and wish I could use it on my cards.

I have used mine on cardstock, but is is really hard to punch. I have used it for SU cardstock and GinaK's 80# cardstock - nothing heavier.
What weight is your cardstock? Maybe it is too heavy?

I have picked up the light weight cardstock that Michaels carries for my MS punches. Because they are layers the weight isn't really a problem on cards.(I like heavy weight cardstock for my cards) Anyway the packages come in all colors and work just fine with most punches. You can usually find them on sale for $2.50 a package.

I have MS punches that stopped even punching paper. I will never waste another penny on MS punches as I threw 4 of them away as they all did not work for even paper.

I had that same punch and it didn't last long before it completely stopped punching through anything. I tossed it!

The only punch I've had trouble punching cardstock with is the heart lace. I'm not sure if that is the same one you're talking about. I use it on thinner paper, and it works fine. All of the other MS punches work on cardstock, even heavier ones. It is very frustrating, though.

Thanks for all you help - looks like I need to toss mine too - I can't believe that EK Success could care less!! Back to SU punches for me!! At least they stand by their products if there is a problem.

ya know... i believe ek success makes the su punchies...

but, i have better luck with cover sheet weights ( 80# cs ) then true cardstock weights say 110#... and 110# is relative, depends on the mfg of the paper if it really is or not, but the true 110# cs does not go through very detailed punches of any mfg... I can use it for bases or with die cuts only...

I think you may well have a "Lemon"! (love it!) Personally I have never had a problem with any of the MS punches and I have roughly 40 (don't tell DH! LOL!) but here in the UK we still have crafts being sold on QVC. MS punches go like the proverbial "hot cakes" and the majority of the crafter's who buy them leave reviews. There are MANY MANY bad reviews for certain designs, all of which have been sent back for a refund or replaced.

If it was me I would exchange the lemon for a new one and if that one STILL does'nt work, get your money back as you really should'nt have a problem punching through lightweight cardstock. Hope this helps x

My current doily lace punch does punch through cardstock. (I'm on my 4th one) If you have your receipt, try returning it to the store where you bought it, tell them it's defective. That worked for me once. You might try e-mailing again and just say your punch isn't working. That worked for me once too, they sent me a replacement! If all else fails, buy another one, put yours in the package and return it. That worked for me once too! I really like this punch, but the quality is not consistent. They must farm the design out to different manufacturers.

I broke an older EK Success border punch on cardstock so now I am very careful to use them only on paper. SU! border punches work on cardstock.
