UGH! I just checked it out and got an eyeful from a banner ad. The headline says "Sexy & Single - We're busting at the seams with single women". You can imagine what sort of picture is accompanying this. I'm 23 and if I'M offended by this, then FOR SURE there will be older people that are more "conservative" than I that will be scared off by this sort of thing.

Sorry, Shelli, but COUNT ME OUT!!!!

The "Sexy Single Women" thing is well not what I want to see when I am on a stamping website (as a matter of fact I don't want to see it really at all). I have no problem with other websites being formed (after all it is a free country), but I think that I am going to stay loyal to SCS. Thanks to everyone at SCS who does such a great job. I plan on making a dontation to this wonderful site very soon (I'm just itching to see the DD gallery). Thanks again!!

Default Have you been to this site?

I have been getting those obnoxious emails, and that was BEFORE I went to this web site. Does someone go on to this site and email everyone who visits?? I just didn't used to get those yucky emails and now I do......and I would like to know how I got on their list!

Lisa what e-mails are you referring to? Ones where they try to solicit you to be some junk?
I got them WELL before I signed up here, and they are not sent out by a person, just a spam type of thing. I have even gotten many asking if I need to grow my P*n*s, so obviously they are just randomly mailed out.

You can report them as spam through your e-mail provider, but they have nothing to do with this site. If you notice this site has ads very discreetly placed in the corners that seem to try and match the characteristics of the users here. I often see them for craft companies, rubber stamp makers, and now mine have links for password managers.

**if you want to know how they go to you, many companies sell their names, such as hotels, on-line ordering, etc. I have an extra e-mail I keep for filling out forms and purchases and that is for sure where most of my spam e-mail comes from, NOT this site **

It seems to me that people here are so quick to judge and not remember what Mom said......."

If you dont have anything nice to say...then dont say anything at all".
I would think by your reactions and comments about this new place to go that some of you are jealous. I think that the people who have set this up are doing this are trying to have another community to go to that dosent get blogged down. ( Not to CLONE SCS) They explain that they dont pay for their site it was set up FREE and yes, some of the ads are not proper (maybe they are working on that? we dont know but you are quick to judge arnt you) Credit should be given for the amount of work and time they have put into a place "they" can call their home. EXAMPLE: America is a Melting Pot. We welcome all, despite Race, Religon ect...
Point said.

WHOA! Ok -listen well-I WON'T say this again!

Do not imagine I am jealous of your site. Do not even THINK that I want over there because I am PERFECTLY happy playing in Daven and Tracy's sandbox. I WON'T be over to your site because, frankly, I find it a little classless to solicit members from this site for yours! Add that to the BLATANT copying of SCS' pages and now YOUR attitude and you just guarenteed that I am staying here. HOW DARE YOU CRITICIZE THIS SITE AND THE MODERATORS HERE!

well Gee, that was sure sweet. Thanks so much.

I responded to the person who said she thought junk e-mails were coming from this site, and I explained how the Spam works. If I misunderstood and she meant they were coming from the other site listed here (sorry, i don't know the official name) I assume it still holds true and most junk spam comes from large companies.

Thaks for sharing your impression of the moderators here. Very sweet of you.

**edited b/c I am about to snark out.**

That IS NOT MY SITE. I was refering to the begining of this thread where another Modeator dis that site. If I belive I have done something wrong then I will appologize. I simply was adding my "opinion" to the post. Is that not what posting in forums is? Geesh.

Ouch!
I was merely asking a question. There was no meaning behind it. I was just curious. Where they not happy here, did they feel something was missing....

Don't assume you always know the "tone" of a posting.
I only used the word "clone" because and you have to admit this, it is more than similiar in style, forums etc.............

What you said about the moderators is totally uncalled for. That was just mean-spirited.

um, if I told you I was "unimpressed" with something you did, I don't doubt that would be considered offensive by you.

And I heard the moderators were very nice and only get snarky when needed - and even then they are "snarky-nice".

Okay, I am new to this thread. But I went and checked out the other site, I even showed it to my DH. Both of our opinions of it is that it looks a lot like SCS. I clicked on Northernstampers gallery and it was her gallery for SCS. Now, I am aware that there isn't a gellery set up on the site yet, but still to have it come back to SCS, to me bothers me...on an ethical level. If you are going to claim the site as your own, then it should be totally your own...not copied (yes, I said COPIED) from another site.
JMHO...
Also, I think that our moderators are awesome here and do a wonderful job keeping all of 29,000 stampers happy and content! Again JMHO!

Are you referring to Beate's post at the beginning of this thread? Beate did NOT dis the site. Beate simply stated that she loves it hear and would never even check out another site. She did not DIS the other site. We are all entitled to our opinions. Beate's opinion is that she loves it here. She did not comment about the other site!

Okay so there is over 31,400 of us silly stampers and I think for the few moderators that there are here, you all do an awesome job! That is what 1 moderator for every how many thousand stampers??? Pretty good ratio...teehee

I am staying here!

I was also bothered that the site looked like a duplicate of this site, that seems a bit wrong. And it also seems wrong to have there gallery lead you right to the gallerys over here. And I couldn't even find the scrapbooking nook gallery.

It just doesn't seem nice to copy someone elses website that has been so successful.

Was the term cased applied to the website?

Hi...I was just wondering if you use craft ink or stazon to stamp the c.d. clocks with. I really love the website that was posted, from the Carol Duvall show. Thanks for your help!

Wow this has gone crazy, well put Catie, I have actually looked at the other site, I like it here, I think it is tacky to post on this website to get people to your website especially when it is a definate case of this site...I have seen several posts from the OP doing this and then constantly bumping to the top, I will admit that I joined the other site to see what it was like but I have never gone back. I am not trying to put down the other site (or the original poster) but I think there are some ethical issues that should be looked at, the format being the same, advertising on this site, and links back to this site from yours...that is just my opinion

Just so you all know there are more sites like SCS out there. SCS BY FAR is the best.
check this one out also
http://www.canadiancontent.net/en/jd...ouble.com/ubb/
are tehy also in the wrong?
NOW. I just want to tell all of you.......... I was stating my opinions. All posts after that got out of hand. For MY part in it I am sorry
I SHOULD have kept some opinions private, but because I am only human , human nature took over and it was wrong. Please stop posting to this thread and let it go away. The more we post to it the more attention it draws. (I am done this this thread.) Lets all go back to playing nicely and please keep the sand in the box!

Hmmm....hard work? How much work is it to put a link on that website to SCS? Free isn't always right. If I went into a store, where they have taken a lot of time and hard work to create displays and market their merchandise, wouldn't it be stealing if I just walked in, took some stuff, set it up on the table outside and gave it away for free?

THIS IS MY HAPPY PLACE....SCS....Others are welcome to be a part of the other website, but until they do things a little differently over there, I PERSONALLY will stand by my opinion. And don't go knockin' the moderators either, because THEY ARE the ones who day to day put in the hard work on this site (let's not forget Daven behind the scenes either.)

JUST MY OPINION....

Oh, Cami, of course we have moderators here! Jovi,Catie, Britta, & Keri, plus Daven & Tracey, ummm, plus Beate & Jenn, oh oh oh plus Lila, Michelle, you, Lana, ME, Debbie O, Debbie Fisher, Ronda, MelMel, Caroline, Beverly, Jan, Julie HRR, and all the guest stampers have worked and still work really hard to make SCS to the wonderful site it is today.

Now I know you know that

If anyone wants to start another forum similar to SCS, even using the same bulletin board system, I say go for it! It takes a lot of hard work and time away from family & friends, but if that's your dream, take it and run with it. God Bless You for it!

However, it is rude and unacceptable to blatantly troll the waters of another group looking for members. It's okay to put the info in your sig line and then post a lot so others will see it. But to come in and intentionally start 3 different threads (one unseen by non-demos since it's in the demo-only section) as your personal advertising system is not right.

I am not jealous of anyone who starts something like this, so please don't take my remarks that way. I have enough groups of my own to know I don't want anything like it I don't care how many people join here or there, or how many post here or there. I do care about right and wrong, and rude versus kindness.

P.S. Catie, I really need to clean my kitchen

edited to include Jovi! How could I forget our sweet Jovi? Never ever again Umm, did I miss anyone else behind the scenes?

I haven't been here as much lately as ususal - but I do LOVE it here! Tracy, Daven (and Tom) and all of the moderators do a phenomenal job of keeping SCS my #1 stamping inspiration destination. Heck, I especially love the horse biscuits!

I like the way you said that. A "CASE" of the site. Because really that is what it is. the constant bumps and "Check this out" posts are annoying, but easy to ingore.

Both of our opinions of it is that it looks a lot like SCS ... If you are going to claim the site as your own, then it should be totally your own...not copied (yes, I said COPIED) from another site.
Actually, there are many sites out there that are set up the same way as SCS ... There's 2 Peas, Scrapping with Style ... I could go on.

There are some profound differences. The technique forum, demo forum and others. And, while the gallery members have linked back to the gallery on SCS, there other links as well. I've set up a link back to my gallery at JADS, as well as SCS. I suspect that when the gallery has been set up at Stampcrazy, those links will disappear.

I love SCS - it is a fabulous resource and one I have become more and more active on; but I am not opposed to joining other sites. Goodness, I belong to several scrapbook sites, but my Design Team job is at JADS. Why would I boycott other sites when there is so much to learn from everyone? That's the beauty of the internet.

Everybody have a great weekend!!!
