I saw this in my day planner and just googed it. This is a really important one for you today!

Have a great celebration! Do you guys do fireworks and the whole bit with parades and, well, {we do hot dogs here} on your birthday?

Probably depends a bit on where you live - I have to say I've never seen a parade for Canada Day. But I live in the nation's capital - the big celebration is generally downtown and around Parliament Hill. It is tradition that there is a show celebrating Canadian talent & culture held on Parliament Hill - there is one at noon and at 9PM and both are broadcast live nationwide.
While you can probably buy hotdogs, more people would be buying & eating fresh made fries & poutine from a chipwagon.

Thank you! And it seem to depend on where you live as to how celebratory things are. We personally are having a very low key day, yard work and seeing as it is cool this morning, I did some baking. No fireworks in our rural location although there are some in the area. I probably will BBQ for supper though.

We have been to some July 1 parades in years past, and also a July 4 celebration once. I think Americans are more apt to throw a party than Canadians. Not to say we aren't patriotic though. I am a fiercely proud Canadian!

I loved your blog post Holly! And special thanks for including all those extra vowels today just for us!

It'll be pretty low key for us today - may climb up on my sister's roof tonight to get a better view of the fireworks... It does really depend where you are just how big the celebrations are. The town where I grew up always has a big parade and sports day. My oldest daughter works as a civilian employee on a military base and they always have a big Canada Day celebration - it means she doesn't get the day off as a stat holiday but they will get another day off somewhere along the way. Whether it's a big celebration with a parade and fireworks, or just burgers on the barbeque, I'm certainly proud to wave my Canadian flag and celebrate this great country of ours!

And in case I don't manage to get online on the weekend since we have a big "Service of Thanks" happening at our church on Sunday, Happy 4th to our "cousins" to the south!

Ah, poutine!! And, in my humble opinion, the best poutine I've had was in Quebec...

There's a parade and fireworks in Vancouver. I watched the queen visiting Parliament Hill this morning on the news... So there's actually quite a bit going on. Happy Canada Day!

Yes, the Queen was in Ottawa today for Canada's 143rd birthday! Quite a crowd -about 100,000 people on the Hill to see her and the Prince today. the weather was sunny but cool, a perfect day to celebrate!
