I have been hearing a lot about the Xyron. I went to Michael's today with my 50% coupon and bought the 510. I looked at the 900, but kept thinking about how much "film" I would waste using for smaller things. Of course, I can't even think about what the smaller things would be. I don't really know what to do with this thing and do I really need/want it? Convince me or it will go back to the store. You guys are so talented, has anyone come up with "Xillion ways to love your Xyron"? Thanks for the insight.

Wait just a minute! You mean we need a REASON to get stuff? Hmm, will have to re-evaluate most of the stuff I have!
OK, you can use it to put make stickers by putting adhesive on the back of punches or diecuts; if you have a laminating cartidge you can laminate bookmarks & such, or you can get the laminate/adhesive cartridge and laminate stuff with sticky on the back.
It is so much faster and less mess than tape or runners or glue or glue sticks. And you can use it for a bunch of little things - just lay them out sort of side by side. AND you don't have to stick it down right away - it has a backing and a sort of a front cover. So if you were making a batch such as Christmas cards you could pre-glue all the layers, etc., get organized and go. I love it. I also got a 150 for little things.
Keep it! I just went to our local craft shop (the only one we have) and they were all out :( . I was playing around with glitter windows last night and decided that my xyron 150 was just not cutting it. I want a bigger one.
Does anybody have any suggestions? Please I need to know whether I will be returning this thing or keeping it. Thanks.
Return it for the 900. Just kidding. I talked to a lady this morning after wondering if I really should have bought the 900 and she raved. The 900 has a magnet/laminate cartridge that I bought last night after hearing her recommendations.
You can adhere velum with the Xyron permanent adhesive, you can make magnetic bookmarks, you can laminate your patterns and templates for future use, you can use the repositionable adhesive for whatever people use repositionable adhesive for ~ not so sure what that is ~ you can use it for ribbon, different embellishments, you can laminate your kids photos, you can make placemats (with the 900). It's very useful!!
I just used my coupon to buy the small little X to make stickers. My DD is a sticker freak. I also bought 2 refills because they were 40% off. My upline said to use it for attaching ribbon. I stamped an image and ran it thru image side down and put micro beads on it. I heated it w/ my heat gun and pressed them down good. It looks great. I don't like the little bit of waste so I am hoarding the pieces for later. Now my DD wants the laminating one.

I've got all of the sizes but the 510--that's next on my list!
**I stamped large pieces of rice paper and then ran them through the 900 and attached to large candles. Really quick and simple gifts!!!
**I took my inspiration sheets and laminated one of each with the 900.
**I took die cut letters and die cut images, ran them through the 250 and my DD and I did her star of week poster.
**I ran grosgrain ribbon through the 150 and attached to card fronts for my swaps for Regional. My DD uses the 150 all the time--she colors things, cuts them out, and makes stickers. We took school pictures and made them into magnets.
TONS and TONS of things you can use these for so don't take it back. Once you start seeing the possibilites, you'll use it a lot!
I bought one myself from the home shopping network, I had a first time customer coupon for $15 off a $20 purchase. I bought it to use with pearl ex, but I'm stilling waiting for that from SU! You can stamp on acetate, run it thru your xyron, then pounce pearl ex on it, run it thru your xyron again and then layer it onto cardstock. I bought it just for this purpose, but know I will get many more tips on how to use it from the great stampers here!
I used mine a while back with the Fishy wheel. I ran about a 2" strip through the machine than sprinkled sand over it so it looked like a beach. I had attached stamping dimensional first before I sprinkled the sand so I had someplace to attach cut out images from Fishy Friends. So cool! Everyone loved it. Just recently stamped on vanilla paper then ran the whole piece through and sprinkled dazzling diamonds over it. Did the same card using versamark over everything then irridescent ice EP, you couldn't tell the difference and so much faster with the xyron and glitter. Everyone has to have a machine now. Don't return yours!
I love my xyron! I run all the thin quarter inch strips that you have leftover from cutting supplies for stamp camps thru them. Then when you want to add a strip of color to a card or card edge, you don't have to fight with trying to get tape on something that is thinner than your tape dispenser. I then used my hole punch to make tiny circle stickers with my 1/8 in hole punch to add some berries to a snowman hat.
