Default Good Stamp set for a ten year old....

Okay, I am beginning my Xmas shopping!!
My 10 year old niece loves to stamp and helps me whenever she is in town. I thought I would get some stamping supplies for her for her xmas gift.

Does anyone have young children who are in love with any particular SU stamp set?

I thought about getting her the RMH set with a couple of inkpads and a package of BB ***'t paper..... She really like the Pocket Fun set, but I kind of want the set I buy to be a little more versatile....

Anyone have any suggestions? You guys are the best!

My niece is 9 and like Pocket fun-plus she can make cards for boys and girls. She LOVES the girls in Totally Cool b/c they look like Bratz dolls-but I don't think the phrases really match her yet, KWIM? The RMH ones are a bit juvenile for her at this point-she likes things that look more teenage-ish (is that a word?), and I think Pocket Fun is not too grown up.

I did a workshop with 10-12 yo girls, they liked Pocket Fun, and most of them chose hobbies or others that they just liked (Fishy Friends, Tags n More b/c it's versatile, On the Beach-although Sparklung Summer is so cute as well!) My 13 yo niece chose the horse set-she rides and loved it, plus it was more grown up for her.

Good point about the RMH set possibly being too juvenile for that age. My niece is VERY much into the social scene and what is cool and not.

I had also thought about the girlfriend set and the accessories. Any advice on those?

My 10 year old daughter likes the Girlfriends set and Girlfriends Accessories. I showed her the Totally Cool set and she really wants that too. She likes making cards for the umpteen birthday parties she goes too and she uses these sets the most.

My daughter is older, but loves Girlfriends ~ more versitile. She's past the Bratz things, so she wants nothing to do with Totally Cool or as she calls it Totally UNcool. Definitely an age thing.

lburanas all I have to say is... "Bueller, Bueller, Bueller" I love your pic. I had a professor this summer that sounded just like that teacher. It was so hard to stay awake for THREE HOURS of American Literature!... Bueller, Bueller, Bueller...

Sorry to be off topic!

My girls (12 and 16) love dragonflys and butterflies. They also love the Totally Cool set.

Default good points

I stamped with my cousins this past Valentines, and thought they would be really fond of the girlfriends set and pocket fun. They all ended up going more for the cute holiday sets like Tags n More, retired Be Mine, etc. So I think that if you go with anything that has a sweet style ie, A Little Love, Little Hellos, Good Times, On the Line (this was a big hit w/ the 13 and 15 yr olds!), even Stipple Celebrations would be great. I think versatility is truely key here. You know that they will be doing lots of birthday cards and So Glad Your My Friend cards, so anything with those themes would be great. I also think that the gift cards w/ mini envies are great!

I also just thought about something generic like Word Play and then a cool pack of our designer series paper in Pickles maybe?

Hope she loves your gift!

My 8 1/2 year old LOVES Equestrian Dream and the one that replaced it in this year's catalog. She loves anything having to do with animals, actually, but horses rule.

What about Fresh Flowers. My daughter still likes using this set and it's the one I've had the longest.

I have to agree with Girlfriends and Girlfriend Accesories! My 10 year old picked these 2 out herself from the catalog and she has so much fun making scrapbook pages with it of her and her girlfriends.

My DD is 12 and stamps all the time. She has stamped a ton of cards with the Girlfriends/Accessories. Right now though, she is loving anything retro. Simple shapes and simply circles. She has made some wonderful cards. The sets are easy to use and can make both girl or boy cards. If you did this, you may want to give her a variety of stampin spots with white CS. CS layers really aren't necessary. Its the different colors of ink that make these cards look good.

What a lucky niece you have! She'll love your gift!

My ten year old daughter really loves any of the animal sets, including horses, dogs, cats. She loves dolphins and really wants Aquaria now! She would probably love Totally Cool, too and the Girlfriends and Accessories. The first set she ever got was Mini Medleys, she picked it out herself and uses it for all sorts of things as it has many seasons! Good luck!

My 11 year old votes for Girlfriends/Accessories, All Wrapped Up/Accessories, and Pocket Fun. Does she have a particular interest (besides stamping) that you could tie in with? Horses? Dance? Wildlife?

Another vote for Girlfriends + GF accessories, you can't lose with that set for tweens and teens (girls that is ...). Pocket Fun is another good one for that age, and I just love All Wrapped Up + AWU Accessories.

My daugter is 10 and loves the girlfriends and accessories sets. She uses them all the times and is so creative with them. A little love also goes well with the girlfriends set. My daughter has put the crown on her head, the hat, she has held the purse and also has had the dog at her feet! Hope this helps!!!!

Default I forgot and editting isn't working...

I also think something kind of generic like Word Play with a package of designer paper like Pickles would be really great. That way they could use them for tons of things and then if she liked any of your image stamps, she could borrow them.

Ok..number 1 on my 12 year old daughters want list is It's a party, the monkey is like the paul frank monkey, and of course the cow and pig are so cool!!! she is even trying to figure if she can get enough friends (and mom) together so she can choose the hostess benifits, and get this with her choice of free stuff. She also wants birthday banter...more cool animals.
totally cool, all wrapped up,
paper..tickles, pickles, sweet sassy, pool party and slumber party
anything bold bright
We have fishy friends which she uses all the time.

Thanks for all of your input!

I think my choices will be between girlfriends, Pocket Fun, and All Wrapped Up.

Now I just have to decide how much I want to spend on the gift.... :-)

My dh joked with me last night about this - said that I was getting my niece "hooked" on the stamps so my sil will have to buy them from me!

Have a great day!
