I have, for the second time in 24 hours--used Glitter Mist successfully. For me the trick is to dry it quickly with my heat gun. I'm so excited--this has been a product that I've never quite mastered for some silly reason!! :p
The last time I used it I spritzed into the air and then "waved" my card through the mist and was much more successful that way...no globs! Queen Wendybell CASE

Did you do this outside? I can't imagine doing it inside, even in my messy craft room?
I gave away my Glimmer Mist because I hated it so. And last month I won an adorable little prize pack that included a tiny bottle of gold Glimmer Mist. If it were any other color, I'd just pass it on. But gold ... I've got to give the gold a try.

I was inside in my cement floor, cinder block wall unfinished basement. I also was using a home made mist that is more alcohol than paint, but it really seemed that most of it got "caught" on the card and in a much finer way than a direct spray.
If you have any big plastic shopping bags, you can hold the card/cardstock inside it and spray. I have a 3M command strip hook under my work table and keep a plastic shopping trash bag hanging there.
With sprays like Glimmer Mist, I hook one handle of the plastic bag, and hold the card inside it - start spraying just beyond the edge of the card then move the spray bottle over the card surface, so that the initial spray goes into the bag.
A Muse has Stardust Finishing Spray that adds neutral shimmery glitter that doesn't blob at all - with that one, I just lay the card on a regular plastic shopping bag and spray.
I think I'll try mixing a little of it with reinker in a Mister bottle for a color version.
I love using Glimmer Mist, but it doesn't always love me. LoL. I have used the boxes to spray in, but I found that by lining my small craft room trash can with a plastic bag and spraying directly into there works great for both coverage & containment. Plus..no clean-up! LoveLee Notes: SNT Tuesday - Glimmer Mist Containment
Also, on some projects, I really like the look of spraying a light mist with the odd splatter of droplets -- sometimes I'll remove the nozzle and flick the tubing directly onto my paper to add more chunky droplets. If you find the mist doesn't work for you in the way you like, maybe give that method a try.
Here is another tip that I had saved from a year or two ago that someone had shared with the group:
I owe a huge thank you to whoever posted that they solved their Glimmer Mist globby-spray problem by adding a bead to the bottle.
I added several alphabet beads (that were not being used) to each bottle of my Glimmer Mist as a last ditch effort to love and use my sprays. The beads help disperse the mica powder into the liquid when shaking the bottle.
If you want even coverage and not splatter you should first spray your mists on a craft mat, then smoosh your paper into the mist... I have a tutorial here:
Tobi, love your idea about spraying onto the craft mat, plus using a flat iron to flatten the tag. Thanks!

I have tried bags, boxes, and holding in the air. Personnally I find that laying my card flat on scrap paper works best - and remember to swing your hand across the page as you press. Funny story to this - DH wanted to make a gift card at Christmas - so with a bit of tutoring and a lot of hollering up the stairs on how, what, and where stuff was- he got to work. I later found out that he sprayed the card (into the air BTW) with what he thought was glimmer mist only to find out he sprayed it with stamp cleaner! He wondered why it wasn't sparkly! Despite this his card turned out pretty nice and he didn't leave a mess.

I saw the tips for spraying your mists. I have trouble with my spray bottles gunking up. I do have a bead or two in them and have tried soaking the nozzle in water. Granted, I made my own sprays and used Wal-Marts small spray bottles. It was sooooo much cheaper that way. But I have used some of the 'name-brands' also and still have trouble with clogging. Any ideas? I would love some!
