Hi! I was hoping to get opinions on what you've found to be the best glue to glue acrylic to paper.
I have the PTI mason jar die. I cut out a piece of acrylic and a piece of watercolor paper. Stamped and colored the watercolor paper and want to glue the acrylic on top of it - so the jar looks 'like a jar'
I tried a tape runner, but not happy with the result at all. Has anyone had any success and what did you use to adhere the acrylic to the paper??
I have found that with the tooth of the watercolour paper it is very hard to fasten anything to it. I am thinking acrylic would be the hardest. Could you try using just a general card stock instead? Try the watercolour technique with card stock or colouring with prisma pencils and OMS. Sorry I can't suggest any other options. Hope someone else will have a better idea.
I wonder if Glossy Accents or something similar would work? Acrylic paint works to adhere acetate to cardstock in the Acrylic Smash technique: Acrylic Smash Tutorial - Splitcoaststampers, so I'm thinking maybe a clear liquid adhesive might also do the trick.
I think your best bet would be to use Glossy Accents. I've used it on things like stamped fruit, apples, also balloons, and it makes a very nice finish that looks "glass-like".

Beacon's Fabri-Tac works great for something like this. It has been described as a glue gun in a bottle, and that's a fitting description. It should adhere your acrylic to the watercolor paper very well.

From what I have read, all glues will show so you might want to have embellies at the glue points to hide them.
Another idea might be to use the glossy accents instead of the acrylic as metioned-spread it out over the jar and let dry overnight. You can alway layer on more if needed.
I cut out some mason jar die cut from acetate and some fruity patterned paper to put 'in' them some weeks ago. Haven't gotten as far as adhering them, but Glossy Accents is my go-to glue. I can't think of anything else I'd try before I try it!!
Maria, I just noticed the question is from you. I've been checking for updates on your blog for over a year. How's things going?
Maria - I have that die set, and when my tac doesn't look the clearest, I use the lid from the stamp set to cover up any issues. I have also used one of the lids with the fabric wrap from the set, and that works wonders. The acetate always sticks to cardstock. Glossy accents on some of the fruit inside the jar can also help adhesion while being partof th design. Diane
Thanks for the replies! The glossy accents worked pretty good. The lid die is a good idea to hide the glue - but I'd still have to put a little on the bottom as well.
FiP: I'm not using my blog anymore. Much easier for me to post to FB
Xyron, Xyron, Xyron!! I use it all the time for acetate and it works like a charm and you cannot see any glue.

If the watercolor paper is a layer that is going to be placed on top of something else, then you can cut wings or tabs on the side of the acetate and cut slits in the watercolor paper and slot the tabs through the slits and tape to the back of the watercolor paper. I have a card in my gallery that I adhered a jar and lid to a die cut panel in this fashion here. It's a glue-less alternative.
