Default Gift set of cards

My SIL wants some cards for one of her Christmas gifts. I was wondering do you all give a set a cards that match/compliment each other or do you just make a variety of cards (i.e. different layouts, colors, etc.)?

Thanks!

Well, you could make a variety of cards with different layouts, stamps, themes, etc, but I guess that would be entirely up to you and how much work you wanted to put into making them.

Last year I made some sets of cards for Christmas gifts. I ended up making some osw (one sheet wonder) cards. I do have some pictures of them in my gallery, but the pictures didn't come out that great and I don't have the cards anymore to retake the pictures, but you might still be able to see them. I tried to make cards for all different occasions that I thought she would use the most- for example I knew my mother in law wouldn’t use any anniversary cards and hardly any sympathy, but she would use mostly birthday and thank you cards. I tried to make some masculine cards as well.

Here's a link to some of the cards that I made:

I give cards to a couple of relatives as their Christmas box - I usually do a selection of cards for them to use throughout the year - eg if they have young children or grandchildren, a couple of kids birthday cards, adult male / female birthday cards, some get well, sympathy, thank yous, etc

Default So glad you asked this!!

I have been thinking of doing a set for the women in my family with a dress stamp I have - I thought of stamping the dress on dp that reflected the four seasons (a holiday dress, a summer dress, a spring dress, and a summery dress), but other than that I have run out of ideas.

Subscribing - would love to know what others do!

I've done a mix of cards for various occasions. This year I'm going to make some monogram sets that will match.

I've done both. One year for my step-monster, I made a coordinated set of all occasion cards. Another year for my boss, I focused on just birthday cards and made a variety of different ones but made sure to include just as many masculine as feminine cards. And for some other relatives, I just filled a box with cards from my stash of things I had made throughout the year. They were all different occasions and styles.

I've also done both. For my mother in law who doesn't drive I gave her last year a tin of different cards with a index card of all the important dates in the family. The box was separated into different catagories.

I posted them on my blog.

I make my cards depending on the person asking for the gift set (some have asked me to make whatever I thought suitable or for a specific theme).

My MIL usually orders about 4 card gift sets every year to give to friends during the holidays...she loves coffee so I have used "Espress Yourself" many times. When I make gift sets, I try to stay within a certain theme to make everything match/look uniform. I've done a lot of gift sets with 6 cards/matching envie in a matching card holder and beaded pen.

The "in" thing right now is making Monogram gift sets (ever since JustRite came out with their stamps). I don't own JustRite stamps (yet) but bought a formal alpha set made by Unity stamps. I used the stamps to make a monogram gift set for my mom and also used the stamps to stamp on the back of the envie with her first name and last name initials. You can go on Emily Giovanni's blog to see some of her fabulous monogram cards for inspiration.

You can take a look in my gallery for the gift sets I have done in the past.

Those all sound like great ideas. I've been asked for cards as a gift by a couple of people and haven't been sure which way to go! I'll be subscribing too, to see what other creative ideas come up!

I always do a mix of different styles, colors and techniques. I am never usually sure what colors they like anyway, so if I do a wide variety, I know they will like something at least in the package I make for them!

I am the designated "Birthday Card Maker" at work, and everyone waits to see what I will come up with for them! They are all different & cased from cards that I see here; but I always make two & put one in my stash. When I need a gift these always come in handy & I can supplement with thank you & sympathy card as well!

I grab cute baskets at garage sales for 25-50 cents and load them up with a variety of cards that I think are suitable for that person (ie: more 'older' cards, more sympathy for the grandmas, etc.)

My family members just beg for the same gift year after year!

I'm sure she'll love what you put together!

I'm glad I came across this thread! I made a gift set for my grandmother last month with 4 cards, envelopes and forever stamps. She liked it. Now, I'm trying to get an idea for my aunt. I think I like doing a themed set with the same color group. Hope this helps!

hi there ladies,

i give lots of all-occasion card boxes for gifts, and usually, i just buy a decorative photo box (from hobby lobby or Michael's), cover the divider tabs with decorative paper and then label them with categories.

then i just make a collection of 20-100 cards (many of them quick, fun cards - depending on how big of a gift i want it to be) and categorize them (if i put fewer cards in, that leaves room for their own stationery collection - and i stuff the back with tissue to make it stay in place)

check out the collection i posted as an album in my gallery if you like - a lot of these cards were very quick and fun to do! http:////www.splitcoaststampers.com/....php?cat=10695

no matter how you to decide to do your gift, i'm sure anyone would love some handmade cards - just for all the love that goes into them!

Oh yes - I am all about the monograms! I've had so many people that I've given them to turn around and order some for people they want to give a gift to. So easy because you can personalize it! And then you have a card for any occasion.

Here's a gift set that I posted tonight. All four cards and folder were made using a die cut sheet from K&Company. I've had the sheet for a long time and came across it tonight. I thought it would work perfectly for this purpose.

So far I've only made boxes of cards for my Mom, who loves to get them for gifts, because she says it's so much fun to give them. I've always done an assortment that doesn't coordinate, just a good variety of colors and styles for all of the different occasions. That way she can decide which card best fits the person she is giving it to.

I'm going to be making some boxes with cards for a couple of silent auction fund raisers. I was planning on making a mixed variety for these also, since I don't know who will be purchasing them. It will be interesting to see what they go for.
