Default Fiskars paper trimmer

For those of you that have had problems with the 12" trimmer that consistently cuts 1/8" "off", I just wanted to let you know that I just got off the phone with Fiskars and they are sending me a replacement trimmer. So, the gal said to tell anyone I knew with the same problem to just call and they'd be happy to send them a replacement too! They were aware of the problem and fixed it.

1-800-500-4849 or go to www.fiskars.com and send them an email.

I just love it when problems are solved so easily!

Hugs,
Betsy

Are you referring to the personal trimmer, with the swing-out piece on the left for cutting 12 inch paper? Wow! This is great news. Were you asked to send in your current trimmer?

Now was this the stampin up fiskars trimer or all of them? I have one from Micheals and my new stampin up one will be here today. Do I need to check it and see if the measurement is right?

I am in Canada and just called Fiskars. I was told by the guy that answered the phone that there was a bad run of trimmers and he sent me to a voice mail to leave a message. I use mine so much and it's so frustrating. I hope I can get it replace, Michaels won't take it back because they have a new policy.

I got mine at Michael's this winter. It looks like the same one SU has but I'll bet SU's is the "fixed" one. However, I doubt it matters. If you have one made by Fiskars, wherever you got it, call Fiskars if it's not working right. They'll send you a new one, no questions asked, no need to return the old one. Pretty cool company!

I have the large rotary trimmer and have been so unhappy with it. It doesnt cut straight and both doors fell off and cant be fixed. I emailed them to see what I could do about it. I replaced the bar and the blade to no avail I love my personal one though!

Okay - let me ask you guys this....Does your blade get really dull after cutting just a few sheets of ultrasmooth white cardstock?

I did a swap last month and had to make at least 100 cuts (I'm estimating). I had to change the blade because the cuts started looking "fuzzy".

Anyone else have this problem?

I have the old grey one and putting a new blade in seems to be a crap shoot. Sometimes they're great and last a long time. Sometimes they cut fuzzy from the start. The last new blade I put in, I raised the arm and the cutting part simply fell out.

I've gone back to using a metal ruler and an X-acto blade because it has cleaner cuts and the replacement blades are sooooo much cheaper than the Fiskars replacements.

My MIL has one of the new style triple track cutter and her blade jumps off the track.

I've had it with the cutters from Fiskars...

Did you talk to customer service or what option did you pick when you called the 800#?

Thanks

I called the 1-800 number and was told to leave a message for someone, and so far no one has called me back so I emailed them this morning.

I just called and Customer Service said they're willing to replace the clear ruler piece only! She said she'd send one of those, but not the entire unit. They must be "on" to the Split Coast group!!!!

"On" to Splitcoaststampers? Bull...we're talking about THEIR defective product! Now, maybe they'd be wise to ask for the return of the defective one, but still, if you have a cutter that's not measuring correctly, then they need to fix it.

However, Fran, I don't understand the part about sending you a new clear ruler part? I don't see what that has to do with the measuring defect.....?

i also emailed friskars about this problem of the paper not being cut straight when i cut it...they are sending me new plastic thingies that the blade sits on and slides up and down...although i don't know if this is going to fix the problem...

i think what happens is when you press the cutter thing down it stretches out the plastic guide and that is why the paper never comes out right.

Default trimmer

I called Fiskars early this morn. and spoke directly with a lady in the customer service dept. She was very pleasant and said they would send a replacement and I don't need to return the old one to them. She even suggested I keep the blade off of the malfunctioning trimmer to use on the one they send me.
Thank you for posting the phone # to call.

I've gotten a couple of PM's about this, and thought I would post my answer to them here, as there seems to be some confusion...

Fiskars came out with a new cutter a year or so ago, the blue one with the triple track. Then they came out with the purple one, I think they call it the Euro style trimmer.

The problem with older gray ones was that as the blade trimmed, it often wobbled because the clear plastic track it was in would bend, causing a wobbly line. ick. This is not the problem I've been talking about though.
With the newer trimmer, when I went to cut paper in half by lining it up to the 5-1/2" mark, I did not end up with two equal sized pieces of paper. One was always 1/8" wider than the other. In other words, the ruler going across the TOP was mismarked. This is why Fiskars says they are sending me a whole new trimmer, one with a corrected ruler along the top. Apparently this was a known problem when they first put these out and has since been fixed.

If you have the older, gray one, it has nothing to do with the problem I was referring to....if you choose to buy the one in the SU! catalog, I'm sure that's one that's been "fixed."

Hope this makes sense....

On a similar topic....every time I cut US cardstock - whether my blade is new or old it comes out fuzzy. I assumed it had something to do with the paper since it doesn't happen to other paper I cut at the same time.

I am so relieved. Someone from Fiskars emailed me this morning and said my crooked trimmer would be replaced. The whole thing! Not just the clear ruler part. Goodbye crooked scoring, Goodbye crooked cards!
