I realized today that, for the first time in over ten years, I have not ordered a single thing from Stampin' Up during Sell-a-Bration. Wow. Life does go on after SU demoship! Anyone else?
When I was a hobby demo I was basically restricted to only SU due to my budget. Now that I am not a demo anymore the sky is the limit with the variety of companies out there!! And now thanks to your latest blog post with the cute little Pure Innocence girl, I may have to order some of those now. ;)
Every year I say I won't spend. I have 2 friends who needed orders to keep their demoship so I ordered from them, then I have a friend who's having a ws on the 27th. I decided to get all the spots this year so I won't need to lug full sized pads when I go someplace to stamp. I always stock up on cardstock during SAB too. I got the punch and the word set with my first 2 orders and will get a bday set out of the catty with my 3rd.

I haven't been a demo'r for about 3 (?) years now. Don't think I ordered during SAB since, but this year, I got the sweet 2 step birdie punch, and the felt flowers, as well as a few other things like kraft 12x12 c/s, etc.
I didn't order the chocolate bunny, which I really liked, but, I don't really stamp all that much for Easter . . .
And, I really love the I {heart} hearts set. I may just hafta place another order. . . ;)

I am not sure it is entirely just not being a demo anymore. Look back to what was out there in the stores, and especially online. There wasn't a 1/4 of what there is now. I know when I first started as a demo it wasn't difficult to keep to buying just SU, but 5 years later, there is sooo much out there. I still am mostly SU, but I also have a ton of other stuff too. And with other companies offering the color coordination like SU, that opens things up too. I don't think I could just go with totally one company because there isn't one company out there that can carry every single thing that every single customer would ever want. Bottom line is I buy what I like and I like alot of different companies, so I spread the love.;)
I only placed a $50 this SAB and only because my BFF was having a workshop. I likely wouldn't have other wise. I didn't NEED anything, my card stock supply is still good but I do like the new punches.

I know, crazy, eh?! It's amazing how it all literally exploded over the last 5 years! I used to be able to keep up with all the companies out there, but there is *so* much out there now, it's just too hard. It's all I can do to keep up with my favorites. And, oftentimes I find myself behind the times with what even just those companies are doing.
LOL!

Even with the expanded choices from the main catalog for SAB freebies, nothing really grabbed me! There were things I liked, don't get me wrong, but nothing I HAD to have...so I was able to restrain myself this year. Usually I order mainly to support my demo friend, but she didn't push it this year so I just let it go...all of my budget has been spent on Copics, anyway, and now I need the refills

Me either. I just spend LOTS of money at other on-line stores and at my LSS. There are such wonderful products out there now.
For my cardstock I decided not to do my annual big stock up from SU this year. Today 18 packs from PTI will delivered to me. THe stamps I got from Inky Impressions, Bildmalarnas, PTI, Kitchen Sink and a few other places.
SU really does not interest me to much anymore since I quit my demoship last September.
I'm with ya! I haven't been a demo for several years now. Since I've dropped, I haven't ordered anything from them. I agree with what many of you have said...nothing really jumps out at me that I have to have. I think I've also learned to be a little more particular with my spending and really only buying what I love and know I will use.
I just can't stop buying the paper and coordinating ribbons and stuff! It makes card making so much easier for me. I have some copics but not enough.....i think in SU colors so i have decided to stick with those. I placed a huge order at the start of SAb and am now trying to keep another one at exactly $150. Out of it all, only 2 stamp sets!
Same here - I was a demo to just get the discount for myself for 3 or 4 years and finally let it go. Nothing I really "had to have". I do love their papers and will continue to buy them. I spent all my $$ lately on Copics and branching out my stamps with other vendors. I have so many stamp sets from SU that I hardly use.
I hadn't bought any SU in almost a year but I had to have that new border punch in the SAB. So, I bought the matching corner punch and the cute 2 step birdie punch, a couple embossing folders I've been eyeing for a year and one of the new clear mount stamp sets. Great stuff and I love the new unmounted stamps and how they're packaged.
I probably won't order again for another year though.
I'm on the opposite side of things- I can't get enough!! I love the new punch style and how we can pick stamp sets from the main catalog as our freebie items. And since I "need" to stock up on cardstock and "need" more of the coordinating ribbons & markers, now seems like the perfect time!
I totally understand though how there are so many other good options out there, but I'm really happy with the big variety of SAB options this year and that it lasts through March.

Hey, Julie....did you know that if you order that set before the end of February, Stampin' Up! will donate $2 to the Red Cross Haiti Relief & Development fund? Just sayin....;)
(As of February 5th, more than 7500 sets have been sold, which adds up to a lot for Haiti relief!)

I did not! Thanks for that heads' up! I will see about that order with my local demo'r--she's a sweetie and used to be a customer of mine when I was a demo'r!

Is there a demo near Georgetown/San Antonio area???
I NEED a new demo (since I dropped....)
I used to have enough to order to demo myself....now I just need some things here and there!
I ordered $50 + so I got the new scalloped edge punch and bought the matching corner punch. I LOVE the new punches. I just ordered the pinking hearts set. They produce borders that are narrower than the MS punches and are perfect when you want/ need a narrower punched border
I also ordered another package of Thoroughly Modern DP. I have used nearly half of the first pack. It is "in colors" and will be discontinued and I love the designs/ colors in that pack.
I just re-stocked some paper and got the border punch for free. Their stamps just don't do a thing for me anymore. Most of the images are so small and ordinary. Of course, I have hundreds of sets, so it's hard me to find anything new. I've also found that I much prefer the versatility of digital images.

I am not fond of most SU stamps either. The child like line drawings are not my style . I like "pretty" rather than "cutesy" images .
But SU has many other things I do like.

I don't know if someone helped you yet, Cammie, but if you go to SU's website, you'll see a Find A Demonstrator link at the top of page. Just plug in your address and you should find a few.
Take care - Regina

Same with me. I was on the verge of dropping as a demo but along came the Occasions Mini!! I ordered enough to get several SAB items.

I think this year was the first year I specifically waited for SAB. I mean, I was never a demo, so never paid attention to SU! sales and specials. But this time, I made up an entire wish list the moment the catalogues and minis came out but waited specifically for someone to have one of those parties during Sale-a-Bration (also made sure that my best stamper friend was NOT going to have one of those parties else I would've saved my order for her party instead) and bought everything I wanted. It came out to $52 subtotal so I got a free set. Total price was $62. I prefer to think of it that I paid $10 for the SAB set and got free shipping and no tax. That's it for me until the next catalogue comes out in July (?).
