Default Fabric padded cork board

I covered my old cork board with fabric and want to put the criss cross ribbons to I can attach cards without piercing them with a thumb tack. The board is 24 x 36. If I put the ribbons 6 inches apart they seem to make the criss cross too close.

Any of you have made your own? If so how far apart did you guys put the ribbons? I don't want to waste my ribbon by cutting more than I need to to try it out .

Thanks!

Vivian

Think it is just a personal preference. I would cut maybe 4 pieces and try experimenting with them. 4 pieces should be enough to help you figure out the best spacing.
