Ever get one of your own cards mailed back to you??
HAHAHHAHAH I always make my step mother card sets for gifts..she loves them. so far she has never mailed them back to me, but I got one in the mail from her. It was a generic Thank you for her birthday gift..HAHHAHAH.... I guess I am glad she actually uses them !
I have a friend that I love dearly. Once she realized the amount of effort that goes into a stamped card, she started saving the cards I send to her. She keeps some, but if she decides to throw one away, she'll give it back to me. LOL...I love it, because then I can recycle the front for another card. I get double the use out of the cards I send to her.
Yes, and I have it right here sitting in front of me. I made a set of embossed and stamped note cards for my daughter-in-law for her birthday this year.
I just received one of the cards back from her. She writes:
"Dear Annette,
Here's what it's like to receive one of your cards! Thank you again for a thoughtful and beautiful gift. I will enjoy using these note cards and I know people will enjoy receiving them, too.
Love, Karen"
I got a big kick out of it, and thought it was really sweet.

My sister once sent me one - when we moved house. She was still selling some of my cards at her local market, and she reckoned the new house card she had from me was nicer than anything she could buy .
On the other hand, I sent a card to a friend who just recently got bad news about her cancer. She was delighted with it, and brought it to show her cousin, whom I know really well; in fact I gave her cousin a set of cards last Christmas - which she hasn't use because *they're too nice to use* . At least now she thinks she should start using them .

I love this! Sounds like you have a very sweet daughter-in-law! I would consider it the ultimate compliment if someone sent me one of the cards I gave them, because that means they're using them and enjoying them!
I haven't every gotten any of my own cards back, but my friend and I send each other our "rejects" and play a little game of "guess the error" or "look how I masked the mistake". I'm notorious for stamping on an envelope upside down but I know that she'll get that envelope and giggle.

My mom was the proud recipient of my first handmade card. Cost $200.
Well kind of...I have a friend and she liked the little card I sent her...I wrote on a post-it-note inside so she could recycle it to someone else...She sent it back to me with a note...We have been sending this card back and forth across the country for 2 years!
I think it's time to add something new to it before it ships out again! LOL

That's so cute!!
I'd love to get one of my own cards back! I was just asking to my husband yesterday whether he thinks the cards I give his mom and Grandma are actually used, since we usually get store bought cards. But they keep asking for more, so I hope they do use them!
My sister sent me one of mine, and I was thrilled because she wrote a note inside, "Isn't this the prettiest card you've ever seen?"
And Bugga, for your daughter-in-law to want you to know what it feels like to receive one of your cards - well, that's just one of the sweetest things I've ever read.
These little creations are part of us, and to have someone think so highly of them - it's one of the best feelings ever.

I've gotten a couple of my cards back in the mail. But not how you think.
Someone we know likes to recycle her Christmas cards. She takes the fronts off and puts them on card bases (she buys her paper through me, lol!) and then sends them out for her Christmas cards the next year. A couple of times she has sent my own card to them back to me!
A couple Christmas's ago I made everyone a monogramed card set - and my SIL sent a thank you to me using one of hers also I make all the family and friend invitations to the events so of course I get one in the mail - My hubby is the one that usually says - didn't you make them?? Next year will be 2 weddings that I will be making the items for so I will be getting them inthe mail - it is kind of neat - knowing that they are using the cards you make...............
My "go-to" baby shower gift is a large package of disposable diapers, a large pack of wipes, and a set of hand stamped Thank You cards, so yes, I can almost always be assure of getting one of these back to thank me for the gift
Yes, Yes, my MIL sends them back to me, for my birthday, the funny thing is I usually send her a whole bunch of them every year for holidays. Some of the ones i put in there, are ones that just don't work for me ( you know what I mean, ones you don't really like, LOL)
Usually that is the one that i get back, LOL. KInda of karma coming back to me, you think!
I feel honored to receive one of my own cards back. I usually give a small package of cards to my sister and nieces for Christmas so I do end up getting some back. It's kind of fun seeing a card you'd forgotten making and then getting it in the mail.."oh this one!" You can see how far you've advanced in your card making skills! HA!
I sent about 60 cards to my friends son in law when he was in Iran . He gave them out to all his troops. I was supprised one day to get one of my cards in the mail. It was from him with a note of thanks. I won't ever throw that card away. I cherish it.

Bugga -- I always wondered if Bugga was your real first name ;-)
I received one of my own cards back -- I gave a gift of note cards to a friend and she sent a thank you note on one of my cards. It felt a little weird to me...

Not to derail this thread - but sometimes I myself wonder. It is my "grandma" name and was given to me by my first grandson when he was 2 years old. He could say lots of words, mama, daddy, granddad, etc. but refused to say grandma or even Nana. He absolutely insisted my name was "Bugga". All the other grandkids, (17 of them, whew!) call me Bugga. We have no idea what he meant by it.
He is now a 6ft tall handsome 22 year old, and it still touches my heart to hear him call me Bugga in his deep baritone voice.

Oh, how I LOVE your "Bugga" name. I've always thought it was a wonderful nickname and am so jealous of it. I totally understand what you mean about your grandson saying your name. When my seven year old grand-daughter says, "Nana," I just melt.
And, good catch, Vicki! I totally missed that Bugga had her real name quoted in her post.
We should start a thread! What is your nickname and how did you get it? It's usually because children/grandchildren can't pronounce a name properly or that's just what they want to call you.
When I became a grandmother, I was wondering about what to be called. Someone wiser than me said, "It doesn't matter what YOU want to be called, the grandchild will call you what THEY want to call you. And then it sticks."
I've never gotten one of my own cards back but I have sent the same card with the same image and sentiment to one of my dear friends TWICE! I guess the words just fit: "We have to be friends always because we know too much about each other" I thought that was really funny. Oh, I got my nickname from friends a long time ago. They called me Junebug but when I moved to CA, they just dropped the June. The only person who still calls me June is my husband ~ everyone else calls me Bug.
