Default Ever cased a catalog item for home decor?

I saw a really cute art print in the Ballard Designs catalog and knew it would be so easy to make myself. Here's the print that I saw.

Newspaper Dress Giclee Print - Ballard Designs

And here's what I made. I didn't make it the exact same way but I did get the idea from the catalog.

Say it With Stamps: Ballard Designs Made Me Do It!

My daughter loves it and since I used stuff I already had around the house and left over paint, I guess you can say it didn't cost me anything to make!

Anyone else have a fun catalog inspired project?

Well, I don't have any catalogs, but a quick trip through my gallery will show you that I use real life items as inspiration for just about everything. Google is my friend!

I'm not able to view your blog from work, but I really liked the inspirational item and I'm sure yours is great too! I'll have a looksee when I get home later.

Cute!

Did you know there is an Inspiration Challenge here on SCS that does this very thing every week. They use a different online store every week.

You can find it here: Inspiration Forum - Theme-Based Weekly Card & Craft Challenges & Ideas

$299 for newspaper clippings!

I like yours better. Apart from the fact that it comes from the heart, it suits your DD.

I haven't done any 'art lifting' like that but I often clip decor photos for colour inspiration or even for card/scrap ideas.

I look at catalogs and newspaper circulars (especially furniture ones) all the time, but I've only ever used them as inspiration for a card, not for anything in the house. Then again, we've been here four years and I have so far only changed the curtains (I hang my head in shame).

Charity . . . I love your take on the original. As they would say on AI . . . you made it your own. Love the purse and button details too. Very clever.

Nicole . . . you're ahead of me. I have no curtains yet LOL I did manage to hang blinds . . . or rather my husband did and for the most part my walls are bare.
