I think that the plaid and celtic fits for Scotland, but not England. Don't use plaid or Celtic for England, only Ireland and Scotland. The Celtic countries are Scotland, Ireland and Wales. For England, you can use virtually any flower, especially the rose, it is our national flower, the thistle is the flower of Scotland. Lovely As a Tree is really good, because England and Scotland are very green. Seaside Sketches and Summer By the Sea are good as well, because we have such a large coastline.
Butterflies, Dragonflies and Ladybirds, you call them ladybugs, are good.
Crowns are good, you could use the one from Cool Cat.
Try and see if you can find images of the Scottish and English flags, they are easy to draw. Scottish flag is a diagonal white cross on a navy background and the English flag is a red cross on a white background.
Boats, fish and sport are also good. We are a very boat-based country as we live on an island.
If you need any more ideas, please feel free to pm me. If you tell me exactly where he went, I will try to think up more ideas. I live in Kent, which is just south of London, so I should be able to come up with some ideas for you.
