Default eBay, I cannot believe this!

I have been watching this PSX Frangipani stamp all week, hoping to get it for a decent price. The last one I saw sold for $76.00, I stopped watching when this one went over $100. I just checked the final sale price, $252.99! Somebody wanted that stamp really badly, lol! Way too rich for my blood!

If you're looking for older stamps like PSX that have been retired, I suggest that you go to garage/craft sales. Last year, I hit the jackpot and found a garage sale with TONS of PSX and I bought all of the botanical stamps they had for $3 each!!!! You just never know what you'll run into. Another year, I went to a craft sale where the person sold stamps on Ebay, but he wanted to get out of doing it. So, all of his stamps were priced $1. I bought $80 worth of Penny Black stamps for $1 each!!!

Now, not all sales are fantastic like the ones I described, but you never know when you'll hit a goldmine. I check out craigslist and a website that advertises estate sales.

Beautiful stamp! I always get so excited to see those high bids. I know it sucks for those on a budget though. I got all excited when I found an Art Nouveau lamp on ebay. I read $220. It was $220,000. I should have known better, lol.

Those PSX stamps go for crazy amounts. I got into stamping when PSX was going out of business so I don't know the reason why the prices are like that. I bet it's a neat story.

I have an unlinked Hello Kitty Cricut cartridge. My DH accidentally got me a double. Oh, I am so tempted to sell it. I collect dolls and I am saving up for a BJD that will be customized. Here's what I am after- Ball jointed Doll Total Shop :::Iplehouse.net::

Expensive! I am thinking selling my HK cart will get me one step closer to my doll.

Maybe the high bidder will have buyer's remorse and flake. I bet it's relisted soon! I would NEVER pay that much for a stamp unless it saved my life!

*writes letter to winner of PSX Stamp*
Dear E-bay winner,

I see you won this stamp.. YAYYY I am so happy for you, but, if you really need just that stamp I understand .. you know for something like an important card/scrapbook page for maybe the Queen Mum or the First Lady (cant see a man wanting it). But if it is just because you "wanted" it then I have $250 worth of Stampin' Up stuff I would like to either sell you, or better yet buy for myself. I will even not charge you shipping.

Thank you for your prompt attention in this matter!

Sincerely,
Leftwithjawonmydesk

I would really love to own this stamp, the Plumeria has very special meaning to me. Growing up, my dad was a member of the men's garden club and he collected many varieties of Plumeria. We had a huge pink Plumeria in our front yard, one of the largest in Miami, and he was quite proud of it. He planted a yellow Plumeria outside my bedroom window so I would see them out both my windows. Nearly every friend and family member has trees today that were cuttings from my dad. He passed away in January and I cannot see a Plumeria without being reminded of him. I would really love to own this stamp, for sentimental reasons, but not for 250 plus dollars!

Please forgive my ignorance, but what makes these PXS stamps so special? Are they old? Who is/was PSX?

PSX = Personal Stamp Exchange

PSX was a stamp company that is no longer in business. I believe Inkadinkado bought them out. However, the images have been retired. So, some PSX stamps have become huge collector items - especially the Botanicals.

In your case then the 250 would be well spent. I am always about memories and sentimental value before the dollar.. Maybe that's way I have such odd things.. ie.. the coffee cup that my mom or dad drank out of .. mind you I think this just may be the last of its kind.. the cups were used by the Navy guys in Key West and when they would get told go go go and have to run to their boats/ships.. wherever and they were sitting on the docks they would just knock them into the ocean and my dad or even my brothers would go get them.. Mind you this was the late 50's early 60's .. And my dad drank from those cups until he passed away in the 90's at the age of 84

I have "lots of PSX botanicals and I finally put all my PSX in a box with a note that said, "don't throw these in a dumpster"... extremely collectible. I can see my son throwing all my PSX and everything else out.... I'm going to check what I have but the Plumeria looks awful familiar. ~~~~~

These are beautiful stories - thank you both for sharing them! I don't know why I even clicked on this thread (I think I read it awhile back, too), but I'm glad I did.

Fran, I have never heard of that before - I'd be VERY sentimental about it, too!

Fishymom, I hope you find a Plumeria stamp you love that won't break the bank .

I just went and checked my stamp shelf in the stamp room and I have a PSX Sunflower stamps sitting there that has never been used. I have no idea how long I have had it or where I even got it from. It is in pristine condition...perhaps I can retire if I sell it...lol.
I will probably never use it.
blessings.

I sure how they take that "COSTLY STAMP SET" and place in a Safe somewhere. Cause you know the value will go down...once they start using it.

Now why can't "I" get those types of sales?????

If anyone has the PSX winter bird house laying around, I would be interested in purchasing it.

Some of the botanicals are a lot more collectible than others. The lilac, sunflower, rose, iris and a few others sadly don't fetch the big $$.
