Default Dye inks

I've been stamping like crazy since the arrival of my MISTI and have a quick question for you guys.

I currently have several pigment ink pads and while I love the colors I have, at times I get careless and accidentally stack one card on top of the other before the ink has dried. Of course this ruins the card.

I eventually want to do heat embossing and I know that the pigment inks will work great for that.

I am looking for a brand of dye inks that come in a decent array of colors. I tend to mass produce cards and I have a very small crafting area, which is why I'm looking for an ink that will dry quickly but still give good results.

I would recommend Memento tear-drop inks or PTI cube inks - both dye-based, dry quickly, give great coverage, easy to store, have refills available and are inexpensive.

Simon Says Stamp premium dye inks (which I understand from YouTube crafters are similar in formulation to Lawn Fawn and My Favorite Things inks) are good quality and come in wide range of colors. You might also check out the dye inks by Hero Arts —the inks by Kelly Purkey come in gorgeous colors!

Ranger are gradually increasing the range in their DYE inks line, which replaces the Adirondacks. For getting a good range of colours at low outlay, as already suggested, the Memento Dew Drops are great. They have been released in packs of 4 colours, I have seen them occasionally- try E-Bay, or Amazon.

I too have been wondering about QUALITY basic dye ink pads. I would love to find a brand that carries basic true color inks that are comparable to Marvy. I really miss them, have some but not all of their colors. I need to fill in the gaps.

I bought this set a few months back and LOVE the colors and the ink itself. They are made by the same company that makes Hero Arts inks. The colors are gorgeous and I prefer using the cubes with my MISTI. They are out of stock right now but if you sign up to be notified that will email you when they are back in... they do sell out fast! If you are in a hurry to get them (which I always am LOL) you can buy them in 4 packs to make a complete set.

Stacy, I don't know if you know, but Marvy have discontinued their inkpads. they are still making the reinkers though, and blank pads so you can make your own. My own favourite were the Adirindacks, which now are also discontinued, but I managed to get a reinker for each of my pads. So for now, its DI's.

Thanks Shazsilverwolf, I saw Stampland selling blank pads and Marvy reinkers and may end up going that route. I was hoping to find another brand that is" more readily available and already "done" though.

The Simon Says ones sound interesting and the ability to watercolor over them once dry is great for some techniques but not others. I do in fact have a set of similar inks already but they are OLD and I will keep these in mind as replacements.

Still looking to fill in my non permanent colors though....

I would like to thank everyone for their ink suggestions. I wound up going to HL and buying the Memento Dew Drops 12 Pack called Sorbet Scoop. Was a great deal with the 40% off coupon. I have used them several times already and they do give really great coverage.

So glad you found something you liked - and at a great price, too.

I love it when posters come back and let us know how it all turned out!
